  • My T-RX - Street Build

    Hi guys,

Ive got a RX135 5speed and I want to make it into a cafe racer. Am pretty serious about it. Even sold off my Pulsar 200 for the funds. Right now am going to do only the cosmetics and brakes + tires. The performance mods will come up in mid may. Need your help in some small issues,

    1. Does the tank need to be extended as in the other cafe racers I saw on the forum? How do I go about getting a seat cowl fabricated?
    2. Is it possible to put a dualtone horn (like a Skoda)?
    3. Are Pulsar disk+fork assembly a safe option for breaking? Am considering the rtr setup too but I feel its turning out to be much more expensive.
    4. I want to have a very powerful HL. Which bulb and reflector should be a best combo and what other alterations should be made to the electricals?
    5. I want a nice analogue tacho and speedo (in chrome). Which would be a direct fit and the cost?
    6. Regarding the handlebar, its going to be either a clubman bar or clip ons, which is better and what precautions must be taken?
    7. Rearsets, how did you get them made, how much it costs and what should be kept in mind?
    8. I want a small taillight like the BSA one (V12's cafe racer enfield has one). Where can I get one?
    9. Ive decided to go for a Michelin M45 rear (if i manage to find one). Which is the best for the front?

Would be great if you all help me out in building this wonderful bike.

    Thanks,
    Sagar.

It has been a long time since I updated this thread. A LOT has been done on the bike and it came out splendid! Its a beast and rides like a shotgun! For now, let the pics do the talking. Will take better pics soon and will write the mods done etc over the weekend.

      Comments folks.

@MODS, Kindly change the topic to "My T-RX - Street Build" and move it to the 2-stroke section.

In fact, I never washed my bike since months and it still looks not so dirty lol. And it dint get a proper paintjob. Another proper coat is still pending and the Expansion chamber will be powder coated too.

Mirrors are going to stay, I just cannot ride any bike without them.

The number plate is in my bag Still the rear needs to be worked upon a bit so waiting for it all to be done before I adorn my bike with the high security number plate The bike will have only a rear plate and no front plate.

I have the stock mirrors lying a few feet from my bike in those pics Trust me, at the insane speeds that this baby does, those mirrors are nothing but useless and they vibrate like crazy.

I somehow feel the bike looks hot w/o the front no. plate. Now a long horizontal white plate will spoil the show.

You mean Yamaha logo on the tank? Which plate and logo?

Many people told me to chrome paint all the logos, the front, tank one, RX135 one. But if I do that, it will look like any other bike. I wanted a complete black theme. The only white should be only the HL and the indicators. Wanted to give it a deadly rugged tough-look finish.

True the blanket black is giving the bike a real one of a kind tough look. Reminds me of the Missle and Mortar firing bike from the movie Delta Force that Chuck Norris rides blowing up baddies in Beirut.

Furious the bike looks amazing in matte black man... amazing...

                        Few Suggestions:

                        1. why dont you get black alloys, it would look more deadly.
                        2. on the side panel why dont you remove the logo and get it written in some grey reflctive shade stickers...????
                        3. and yes u said that the powder coating is due for the silencer so that would take care of it....
                        4. for front shocker why dont u cover it with the black rubber which comes in other bikes like pulsar and all...it will give an all Black and no Chrome look.

also let us know the performance of the bike brother ...and keep her clean after the second round of paint job she will look killing... cheers n ride safe

i second the idea of changing the logo to some darker color, but not letting it be matt black. It seems like a noob paint job then, with nothing to break the monotony of the color, i hope you are getting what i am saying.

There should be some visual break up in the paint to give it more depth and appeal. And removing the protuding logos and putting stickers, will not only remove the feel/look that the logos are bland and simply sticking out, but will give some visual relief to the design.

Black alloys are easy, tough would be powdercoating the rim and spokes, and using the nuts only chromed, coz otherwise during installation, the paint will chip off them, and the rim will end up looking bad.

But a great look mate! i am already getting ideas for my build.

Nice job, the look suits the bike.

What rubber have you got on the wheels?
