Well even I was having a tough time at one time when my bike was also giving me less average. But know she is giving me 54 in city. Well I am doing this.
    1. Get the filter change every time with the engine oil
    2. Putting 3m addictive with the engine oil as well as petrol.
    3. Using castrol active as engine oil

well i wud lik 2 add 1 thing here
honda tests its oil especially for their own engine
whereas castrol , mak n blah-blah tests dem for overall best average performance on various different machines
hence honda has a specialized oil for its products
no oil can beat it for its products.
The Automotive batteries are designed to work best in a typical short start-stop fashion.
So to increase the life of your automobile battery, blow the horn and flash the pass light in a quick start stop fashion instead of a conitnuous long horn blow or flash light continuous on!!
And obviously don't stretch the self start far too long.

Very true. And at least in Pulsar range, Castrol does'nt work very well. Do'nt know about uni, but oil made by Honda would be best for Honda!

Thats an arguable statement. I don't know about Unicorn, but Gulf outperforms the Hero Honda oil (in all noticible parameters) by Idemitsu by a pretty fair margin!

mman yesterday i came 2 knw dat honda engine oil is same for scooties and unicorn .
            Cn ne1 confirm it ?
If its yes ,den do suggest me another oil well tested 4 uni
i don't want long service interval as i use 2 service my bike frequently i.e every 2000km or after 5 months whichever is earlier.
just increase in performance as compared to stock engine oil.
price no bar till 500 Rs. per litre (bt is it really worth?)

is there any way by which we can incraese milage a little bit w\o sacrificing performence at all. for e.g replaceing piston head with lighter one or smthin
One has to remember the whole engine mechanism (all moving/mating parts) has to be made lighter by re-designing, making one part 'light' is actually dangerous. The moving parts rotate at quite a high speed and small mass change will result in imbalance, the imbalance force gets bigger in magnitude with higher RPM and in worst case it may fail.

yup! i know what ur saying i just quoted lighter piston, the idea was originated when i read abt r15's lighter piston... and lighter piston not necessarily mean u redesign whole engine.

and yes i can understand that parts like gears ,crankshaft rotates at huge rpm so they have huge angular momentum hence one lighter part can cause imbalance , the lighter part might wear FASTER bcoz of heavy thumps of relatively heavy attached parts...

pistons are relatively isolated entities and they are already taking thumps of explosion in cylinder so there being lighter is actually seems beneficial atleast to me bcoz the gas being burnt will need less effort to move piston down!! and @ high rpm it can produce some srs efficiency!

Yes. Got my unicorn serviced today. Noticed that they are using the same oil for both activa and the unicorn! I checked on the Honda website. Both are 10W30 oils.
Also I noticed one thing, they were adding 2 'Nulon' additives to the oil. Got hold of the additive cans and read the instructions. One was to be added before removing the old oil (it was basically meant for removing the deposits) and the other was to be added after pouring the new oil (It provided extra protection). But sadly I observed that the mechanic wasn't adhering to the instructions written on the can. (There was a particular procedure mentioned for adding the additives which required the running of engine in a particular method).
