^^^But the cost of that is around the same as Formula 1 paste that comes in flat yellow pack. I doubt its better than Forumla 1... has anybody compared them?

Turtle Wax is by far the BEST wax polish i've used. Its available at just one place in Bangalore at Jayanagar. As no one else stocks turtle wax and this guy at the place is the only one who can get u. The place is: Sri Ganesh Auto Spares And number: 080-26652069.

He also has the expensive Meguire Wax starting 1200bucks onwards. Meguire is also very good.. but very expensive.
I paid 450 bucks for a 397grams box of turtle wax and its done a great job on my bikes. Superb stuff for the money!
My 2 year old Disco which has never been polished was shining like a new bike in no time after a test coat of wax! My R15 is getting a coat soon! Even after 2 weeks and washes, and LOADS of dust on the bike. Its easy to clean the bike and the polish has left the bike smooth to touch and soft.
Go for turtle wax!.
And for wash i use a dedicated car wash shampoo from 3M. So far its been satisfactory. Just used it once and it cleaned up my bike very well. It cost me 180 bucks for 100ml
Gonna wash it this weekend since all my riding has gotten my bike really grimy, lets see how it works. Used to use sunsilk on my bike but realized it quickly that its not meant to be used on bikes as there are better stuff available.
I use STP - Sun of a Gun (dashboard polish...rubber, vinyl) for the non painted areas, mirrors and fiber parts and it is awesome!--------------------------------

I second "turtle" wax , the standard green colored one . I used to apply Formula 1 to my car,but it attracted way too much dust . And,being really soft (the wax) ..the container used to empty pretty fast . Not so with turtle wax .Comment

I wouldn't say a coat or two of polish could last for 12 months. I've used Turtle Wax products extensively. There's no doubting the quality of Turtle Wax, but just one wash at the local power-wash-wala has always ended up dulling the finish. Thanks to the detergent used.
Even if the bike didn't go for a power wash, the finish, while better than no polish does fade with time.
Perhaps the claim that it lasts a year is based on a set of controlled conditions, with rare usage. With our summers, perennial dust & grime and rainy seasons etc. there's no way that polish would last for a year. Yeah, you could get away not washing your car/bike for months at a time in the U.S. but here in India a single day could be enough for our bikes needing to be washed.
If you're likely to be lazy then I'd say once in three months is still a good frequency to polish your motorcycle. Even better would be once a month. This is assuming regular, almost daily sorta use.Last edited by nirvan; 04-14-2009, 05:21 PM.Comment

I've been using Formula 1 polish since the past 10 years and its been amazing.

At the Hero HOnda service, at the 1st service itself, when I got my bike back, I could see the dulling/hazing in the paint!
Most likely they used some cheap ordinary detergent. Have to stand on their heads to get any quality job done.
On the other hand, whenever I'v gotten my Shogun back from the TVS dealer, the bike looks bit shiny. Seems they use something relatively good.
So guys, always make very sure what they use to wash your bike with. Else all your polishing and all will be useless over time.Comment

@Rohit: U r right in assuming that COLIN can be used on metals, plastics and glass. But with automobiles, we r not just talking about metals, we r talking about metals painted with special automotive paints designed to be exposed to the elements. The harsh soaping compounds in COLIN are too strong for automotive paints and can fade the paint away.Originally posted by rohitmundra View Post

Using COLIN is equivalant to using RIM/Ariel/VIM/Safina soaps or even COLIN to wash ur face, would u do that?

I am a little confused about what u r looking for. Are u looking to wash ur bike or wax ur bike? Formula1 is only a wax and u cannot wash ur bike with it. The washing soap is different. Pickup a bottle of sonax which is very good.
