In fact I just bought a bottle of that (exactly same bottle as shown in the pic above). Haven't had the time to try it yet... hope its good enough. Cost Rs. 80/- Its made in India though. It dosen't claim to protect from UV either.

The qualities most imp. for me in a wax/protectant are:
      • Should prevent fading from sunlight
      • Should protect paint finish
      • Should bead water well and allow settled dust to get dusted off easily
      • Should last a decent while & not get washed off easily in rain, water washes
      • Should hide fine scratches as much as possible
      • Should be non-abrasive for regular use.
I used to polish my bike with this for well over three years. Its better than F1 that I am using now and I dont think I got a fake F1. Its especially useful in protecting the paint finish. Hiding fine scratches Subjective...Not sure.

It defnitely doesnt give oily finish

Just found the Formula One Polish that I bought 2 years back. Applied to my bike sparingly. Viola, my bike is new now.

Im not too comfortable with using abrassive products like brasso\silvo\brite-o, etc.

Please do not recommend "any automotive accessory shop". I tried multiple and they really do not know the products they have, and try to palm off inappropriate substitues for items they dont have.

To summarize, is there a specific shop you would recommend in chennai which has a decent range of 3m, sonax, waxpol and turtlewax (which i guess is out of the picture now) products. Also a source for microfiber cloth would be nice.

I created a similar thread on another forum asking the same thing, but the one post which had shop names and addresses seemed to be outdated. When I went to the aforementioned shops, they did not seem to exist and the locals had no clue what i was talking about. Even the companys' websites seem to be inaccurate when it comes to retail locations.

@arvindraju: where did you get the acf50 from?

            Thanks in advance.

for me also same problem i too didn't get a proper place to get .. when u find a good product tell me :-) i too will buy :-) if i get i will tell u

I tried MotoMAX paint polish. Felt good. left a nice shiny coat on the tank and all. They also have MotoMAX dashboard polish which I used on the black matt fibre parts they looked like new. Although I tried it in the monsoons. So don't know how long it lasts.

Most of us have problems with getting Fakes. Has anyone here tried you neighbourhood BigBazaar? They have an auto accessories section and they stock (i have seen and bought) F1, Sonax anfd Waxpol. You also get decent discounts. And you are almost sure that they are not fakes...

This guy has done some good research on Polist etc.

I see Carnauba wax and happy with the results. Got it from Bigbazaar.

Generally the so called 'fakes' at big bazaar is actually stuff that is produced for Future group (the main company for BigBazaar) and branded with their name.

I have checked out most stuff at Big Bazaar (i recently purchased a f1 wax tin from there). The stuff is good.
Moreover, Big Bazaar has to maintain their name in the industry which leads me to trust them more than the roadside shop.

                      • I use Abel Auto Liquid Wax. I'm very happy with the results. The gloss is good and the water beading effect seems to last quite long considering the
                        conditions here.

I checked out the company and I found out that it is actually owned by Turtle Wax. The products are of really good quality but the company is unknown, since it mostly makes products for car repair and accessory chain shops in Europe.

In the past, I've used Vista spray polish (it's a liquid wax). Like many waxes and polishes, the gloss is good but the effect doesn't last long.

I also use Waxpol Silicone polish. I use it mainly for naked plastic parts since using wax on them will cause them to become stained white. It works well on black plastic parts like mudguards, instrument consoles, etc.

I think I'll try Waxpol Protectol next.

From what I've heard and read, it's not a bad product but not a great product either.

It seems that Waxpol's best product is their "Super quality polish". It's a wax that's rich in Carnauba wax and apparently does a great job of protecting paint and creating gloss. It's hard wax so it's difficult to apply and buff but the results are supposed to be fabulous.
