dude chuck the idea of the 220 bore...jus take a 200 bore piston nd cam shaft nd get the head of ur 180 worked up sum1 who really knw's wt he's doin...nd get ur carb jetted....believe me...its gonna be one hell of a bike,a 220 would stand no chance....nd ya do get a custom silencer or use a 200 silencer..cos the 180 silencer would feel small frm it....

sprocketing: to hav the comp fun of the bike this is needed.....jus my sugestion use a old cbz's front sprocket nd a smaller sprocket at d rear...believe me the bike would jus be a over all performer...

we hav moded my frnds 180...that bike does 124 on d speedo within 403mts...nd it shld cost u max 15k....

@sahil_killer: first of all, mine is not a a 180cc Pulsar... Secondly i have a custom made free flow exhaust with me.. and thirdly, i've already started mounting the 220's bore piston kit.
as told earlier, i first need to check if the bike over revs(which i think it most probably would) only then i would go for the sprockets.

what was this 180 modded to..? my 150cc with a free flow exhaust and a K&N used to do 120kays, a 180 should have done more AFAIK...

@me is rossi: got a call from my mech jus now... there was difficulty for getting the kit inside the frame.... the crank job was even more complecated. but they have succesfully installed the carbs(BS29mm) and the bike showed signs of starting, didnt start today though(guess the machine needs to get accustomed to the heavier crank). and moreover they have closed for the day... so probably, they would be working on it tomo and would also work on the suspension, braking, retuning the exhaust misc...the swing arm is not being changed, i told him to retain it.

dude it does not matter if its 180 or no....the 150 would perform as gud as the 180 if modded...nd the thing with d 220 bore would be that for that the crank will hav to be modded...nd a lot...so its like taking a risk....so it's easier nd more advisable to use a 200's bore nd piston...nyways u hav started ur work wid a 220's bore nd stuff....hope it works out well for u nd lets c how does the bike perform....nd abt the top that u were talkin dude i told that d bike was jus tested for 400 mts nd did 124 on d speedo...m sure the bike is capable for more...may be arnd 135+ on d speedo....once ur bike is done plz post the specs here..

easy conversion. I have done quite a few by now..Its very easy to get a 220 piston shoved in ur current bore. and get a camshaft upgrade...but you need to have valve cutters and a lot of porting to get the head to flow right. I landed upon a small good recipe for the P180- P220 I did for a guy in thane. I'll give you a hint - its the valves and the valve stem dia. I plonked a Keihin 30mm CV on that thing.. A stainless steel exhaust with tapered header on its way too..will post up pics soon

u cant upgrade to the 220 crankshaft unless u change the cases. The 220 has a longer stroke

finally..!!!! the bike is ready... only petty jobs remain like checking the electricals, fitting the classic pulsar headlight, retuning the exhaust.... would be gettin the delivery of the bike tentatively by tomorrow evening..

i checked out the job done today... the bike was left in idle condition and there was no visible oil leak(from anywhere) and no wierd sounds coming(which used to come near the tapet area before).. the bike was pretty silent than it usually used to be... the sprockets have been changed(forgot to ask him to what it was changed... will update it tomorrow)

i went to wack the throttle but the guy said, please wait for a 500kms... ,but is this wait really necessary??

                      1. P220 piston+bore
                      2. P200 cylinder head
                      3. P220 gear box(yes, my gears have been changed from all down to 1down, 4 up)
                      4. P200 intake manifold
                      5. P220 crank
                      6. wet clutch plates( machine work done on them, not a straight fit)
                      7. P220 cylinder head cover
                      8. switched back to the original airfilter box for the run in period(500kms) would be switching to the R1060 after the run in
                      9. BS29mm P200 Carbuerator
                      10. avenger 200 rear sprocket(need to check the front sprocket)
                      11. Yuasa AGM maintainance free battery(cool huh..!!!, the yamaha r1 battery...!! )
                      12. electrical system changed according to the P220.
                      13. custom made secondary oil supply to the piston to reduce the heat.
                      14. NGK iridium spark plugs
                      15. 20W50 engine oil.
                      16. retuned free flow exhaust for mid rande(5-8k rpm)
                      17. replaced cone set
                      18. removed the kicker(practically, it cannot be installed, very high compression)
                      19. front suspensions tuned to be a bit more hard
                      20. no alterations have been done to the frame or the swingarm

this is it.. and its jus amazing to drive this thing.! the exhaust note is awesome and u can jus feel the power surge in after 5k rpm... it literally shoots... "crotch rocket". now have to control the throttle until the run in is over...

anyway... i once again thank u all for helping me in this....

PS: changing to R15 tyre set... could anyone tell me the rate of these tyres in chennai?

Congrats on the successful completion of the 220 conversion. Keep us updated. Do keep an eye out for abnormal heating up of the engine after the running in period and if noticed rectify it asap.

                              thanks bro!

as of now, i've one only 15kms and this involved no ripping... the heating is normal... infact i cant even feel the heat in my legs which i normally felt in my older bike, thanks to secondary oil inlet to the piston.. its pretty dark now... will post the pictures once the daylight hits...
