  • Not getting enough mileage in new CBZ-X

    Hi Frenz,

My CBZ-X is just 4 months old and it's not giving mileage of even 40 kmpl. What can be the reason and how can I increase the mileage. First servicing has been done in time.

Wait for some more time before coming to conclusions....

Complete your run-in period and then some more...

Brand new bikes sometimes tend to give some awkward mileges...!

            what mileage are you getting?

At what revs are you shifting gears? Also whats the max rpm that you are taking your bike to?

try checking air pressure dude...and do shift at proper rpm's ..this helped me a lot ..u can ask some senior members about the shifting pattern of CBZ-X.....

my p180 is giving 50+ after following the shifting pattern

I don't have any idea abt the gear shifting pattern. I shift to 5th gear at abt 3000 (slightly lesser than 40 kmph ) rpm.

Please if any1 can let me know abt gear shifting pattern for CBZ-X.

Max rpm i have taken my bike to is 7000 (around 90 kmph).

How does ur regular driving route look like? It might depend on the kind of traffic that u hit upon... just a thought.

I only get that kind of mileage from my xtreme if i cruise @ 3 digits.I never got below 40Km/lt,i usually get 45km/lt and i shift between 5000-6000RPM.The SC really dont "service" ur bike get it done outside.Shift @ 4000RPm.

we can't rely on the local mech walas......

and 4000 rpm is the best to shift the gear .......

SC do not permit you to watch your bike getting "serviced".Read the the manual see what it says to be done on the 1st service. No SC follows the manual prescription.I am yet to come across a SC that cleans the carb @ 1st service.I dont want to even talk about the Centrifuge filter. You can try Castrol bike zone they are good they let u watch your bike when its getting serviced.

I shift between 4000-4500RPM if i want 50+km/lt.The needle may show 4000RPM but the engine will take sometime to GET to that RPM then only u should shift .I completed my tirupati trip with just 6 lt of petrol translating to 50+km/lt.

^^^I seriously don't think you need to clean the carb at 1st service... or even frequently. The less those #@%$ morons mess with things the better! My Shogun's carb wasn't cleaned for more than 4 years.

Just make sure you use the best petrol available and made sure its clean. Additives in petrol usually seem to do a good job of keeping it clean without opening.

                              cbz-x

I also own cbz-x and average i get is around 50-55 km/ltr(total mileage done is 17000 kms). Guys don't stretch ur machine too much, best time to get to 5th gear is around 40km/hr on speedo which i religiously follow. Also while reducing speed, do it gradually on your gears. Like to go from 5th to 2nd don't go
"kat kat kat" to 2nd. Instead go to 4th rev a bit with clutch pressed, then gradually goto 3rd synchronizing with clutch and similarly goto 2nd. This will also increase the gear and clutchplate life......
