    outwordly maniac,

whats the progress on the rebore/engine job ? reason i am interested is i too am on an RX-135, and am considering a rebore job post this monsoon. i am on first oversize piston.

i saw you mention that you did not have a good mechanic. i recently found a new mechanic at agripada, near jhula maidan. i tested him out by getting some basic work done by him this last weekend.

i got the following done :
    New Clutch plates and packing
Rear shock absorbers changed (put in SNS)
    cone set work
    new fork oil
    front brake liner changed
both brakes fully inspected and cleaned
    new battery
    engine / gear oil replaced
    oil pump recalibrated
    carburettor completely cleaned and serviced
    silencer decarbonised
engine head taken off and basic carbon removed. (basically wanted to check piston bore status)
miscelleaneous seals, rubber bits, washers etc.

all this came to around Rs.2500 including parts and labour.

the thing is I am reasonably happy with the quality of his work and there is a huge difference in the way the bike feels now. most importantly, he is a two-stroke junkie, and loves to and has worked on many yamahas and shoguns, a few of them which I have seen and ridden.

let me know whats the status of the bike you have mentioned. maybe we can get our engine work done together. i am still undecided on a couple of things. will proceed slowly. eventually, my plans are to put in a 5-speed box and get a new piston job done.

            @ hell glider
pm me if ur not comfortable here

i am thinking of fitting a more fatter rear tyre
            may be one size big!!
coz i always lean while turning and i think my rx cannot lean
or may its was tyre prob
            what you guys say?

which tyres are best suited in mud and road
            multipurpose

and one damn and the worst problem is
            BAD HANDLING

my rx is a very bad handler man
even at low speeds like 20 ,,,, the handle is like stuck straight....
thats y i rely on leaning

            please help
            thanks in advance
            what cud be the problems?????

              outwordly maniac,

first of all, i had *THE EXACT SAME ACCIDENT* you had. bmc work in progress. ass*$&#$# didn't clear the mud off the road. i had to brake hard when a transport bus made a sudden turn into me. i skid and ended up under the bus with my front wheel/silencer area under the front left tyre of the bus and my head banging into the axle after a nice long slide. thank goodness for the helmet.

              anyways,
i don't have any problems with handling. grip is also slightly better now. i have mrf nylogrip plus at the rear which i installed a while back. this is definitely fatter than the stock rx-135 tyre which was just too damn skinny.

at the front i put a new tyre last week. mfr rib plus 2.75X18 (Rs.900 with tube). earlier i had 2.5X18. the difference is HUGE. ultra-smooth in terms of ride quality. i couldn't believe the difference in cushioning and grip. mind you, its a simple tyre, nothing fancy. but i think its more than enough for the rx-135 and my style of riding.

basically, i changed the tyre after the rest of the suspension work i did. just a couple of days before changing the front tyre, i had changed the rear shock-ups and serviced the front shocks, changed oil etc. since i changed the tyre after a couple of days of good riding after the suspension work, i am positive now about the improvement this tyre has made.

but maybe you should check other options as well for e.g. from michelin or dunlop etc. i just took the one that was available easiest.

              ciao.

              p.s.

i have just one problem after changing the tyre at the front. i get a feeling of wobbling at any speeds above 50-55 kmph. i need to get that sorted out.

will start a separate thread to get advice/opinions of fellow members on that issue.

                ciao.
