so there is this brand spanking new Avenger with just 4 kms on the odo. he agrees to give me a test ride on the road.(the dyno wasn't there. test ride on L.B.S. Marg, Kanjur Marg stretch, which is nice and relatively empty in the afternoons). the test ride itself was a short one though, just about a km.
(to those of you who are particular, i did not anywhere near rip or abuse the bike. i was very gentle, i think more than required in fact. i would never do that to a new bike, in case some other poor bloke ends up buying it.)
I came away from the test ride very confused. these were my observations.
- the bike felt extremely sluggish. kind of as if the engine is smothered and not able to move.
- i could feel no sense of rhythm or specific pattern in the exhaust note.
- i was expecting some decent pulling power, it being 200 cc and all that, but i couldn't feel it.
- gear shifts were bad.
so these are my basic queries :
- was i in fact too gentle with the accelerator ? does the 200 engine need some firm acceleration to be provided by the rider, which i was not doing ?
- was it because it was a brand new bike and not broken it at all ? this is what the showroom guy said when i enquired. he said once it opens up, it'll be much more free. i do understand the concept, having broken in new vehicles before, but i wasn't expecting it to be this tight.
i mean after the test ride, when i got back on my rx 135, my bike felt like a damn rocket on rails greased with butter. and my rx is not in that good shape to begin with.
would appreciate if experienced fellow members here would enlighten me.
thanks and regards.
p.s.
there is hardly any information on the avenger. was this lost too, due to the crash ?

things is people dont complete the shift & try bring directly from say 3rd or 2nd to nuetral... that the way things dont work, its one drop @ a time. i guess coming over a RX Gear to Bajaj Gear Box has taken a Toll on you
which is not recommended
20w40 oil was poured into my engine after first service
