Re: [Help]: Is using engine kill switch harmful?
They way I turn off my bike after a ride in
- Put the bike in Neutral
- turn off Head-lights, then parking lights
- let it idle for 30secs
- Kill engine with kill switch
- turn off everything with the key. (earlier when I had Old Unicorn which didn't have kill switch I'd just come to this step after idling).
I know a lot who don't think idling is required but I do this even with my car. My view is it gives the machine a chance to stabilize. I also idle & let the bike warmup when doing a cold start.

Re: [Help]: Is using engine kill switch harmful?
Hi.
From what I have researched, engine Kill switch cuts off the power to the spark plug only. That's it. The off switch using the bike key disables everything.
The most logical way of using it that I found is :
1) Turn off heavy power consuming devices off(like headlight).
2) Either go neutral or clutch-in in a gear(If you bike supports that).
3) Kill the engine.
4) Turn the switch back on again. Its easy to start the engine later.

NOTE: Never, never use the first gear, clutch out method to kill the engine(the one that gives the bike a little jerk before the engine stalls). Here the engine is getting stalled, not killed.

Remove the RH-side panel and check if there are two wires which has male-female connectors with black color rubber insulator .Originally posted by ashwhin View PostHi All,
Recently I saw a guy who has fixed a Engine Kill Switch in CBZ Xtreme. The engine kill switch comes very handy when we have to wait in signals. How easily it can be fitted in Passion Pro and Splendor Pro, even being the largest selling motor cylces, these bikes miss this useful feature. Will there be any problem in fixing the engine kill switch. Hope this thread will be an useful one for those who desperately want to fix the Engine Kill Switch in their bikes.

(IIRC ,the wire is blue colored with white stripe.)
(Those wires come from trigger coil and ignition power coil.)
If your passion/splendor has it,then kill switch can be added and it will not turn off the digital meter when the switch is used, only engine stops.

Fitting engine kill switch is not that a big deal, I guess.Originally posted by neoakshay View PostThere are going to be millions of CBR150R riders who'll be asking this same question soon!
Someone need to catch that CBZ Xtreme owner, and fast!
I think a switch connected in series(not parallel) with the original ignition wiring will do the trick !
But a custom fitted switch will look cluttered anyday in a 1L+ priced bike !

Your friend is too lazy to take the hands off the accelerator and turn ignition key off?Originally posted by plasmabhai View PostLike someone who asked above, i always press the front brake and dump the clutch... My friend has been doing that since the last 57000km with no trouble at all...
is it harmful?
Stopping bike by releasing clutch is not at all recommended, as it causes more stress on the clutch, gears etc.

Hey, thanks mate!Originally posted by satheez_7 View PostOT : Lol!..
Hi neoakhay. I hope you will be first CBR150R owner
, will come with this question. Seen your buying suggestion(250 or 150) post in 250R ownership thread.
Have already booked the 150R, but looking for advice from other bikers just to be sure the additional 32k is worth it for the 250R.

This is the only emergency that I can think ofOriginally posted by The Zmaniac View PostBut, I did not get "emergency usage" of engine kill switch.
Let's say, a fall is imminent & one kills its engine using switch.
Considering one is riding his bike say at 30 kmph on some gear; won't it be bad for transmission if one does not use bike's clutch as bike is still in gear & in motion???
Won't it jerk just the way it does when we leave leave clutch without giving acceleration???
If so, I feel it is more dangerous than letting engine be On only.
Originally posted by L.P. View PostIn india,GOD forbid if any kind of mishap happens the bike keeps running and due to which some time it rotates and hit the rider..so as soon as something happens it can be used to kill the power immiditely..
there is abs no problem in using it..
