@srhinath: You will have to search for Mustang tank bags, they cost around 500rs a piece. I have those, you can try for a small demo ride

        Spare the dog

Labs are not built for this, take him to a lake & let him splash around instead.

Surprising that anyone can even consider this!

I had a much smaller doggie - a pure pom. Used to take him for my runs. When I got my 1st bike, I really wanted to take him on my the bike. The rid is just about 7 mins. Since his nails would scratch the tank I had a tank cover put up. Tried it couple of times and gave up for good. I kept and maintained my moped just for him... so I can keep him on the floorboard and kinda hold him with my legs. This was way safer.

Dude, even carrying my 5 kg doggie was way too precarious. I have no idea how you are even contemplating carring a lab on the tank. And that too for such a long ride!! A pooch just isn't made for 2 wheelers. Its just way unsafe. If its a really short ride, a scoot would be a much better option.

Please don't do it. You will be putting ur precious pooch at risk, yourself and others on the road. Besides no dog can sit comfortably on a bike.

@Srinath - Please get a Car. By now I ve' figured you and your pooch are inseparable but mate riding with him on your Tank on a highway is way too dangerous and definetly not Ethical cos your Lab does not have a choice in this matter. He's gonna be doing it cos you re forcing him to do it. It s quite natyural for a dog to live with humans but riding on bikes nah! Thats not natural for them.

                LOLz...

But seriously man.. i think the Sholay Sidecar idea was the best 1. Panchgani is too far for you to take your dog along alone on a tank. Try sitting on the tank for 10 km while riding in the pune traffic.. u ll understand what the dog has to go through for so many more kms.

Borrow some of ur friend's Activa / KiHo if you so badly want to take ur dog along.

Also if you want it trained for other such adventurous trips.. i really think that investing in the sidecar is a much better idea, rather than torturing ur dog's butt on a 70km journey.. just imagine.. the dog wont even be able to request a butt break on its 1st long bike ride.. that too while sitting on the tank..

You also mentioned it was shivering during the 15min 10km intra city tank-top ride.. i believe those were shivers from fear of falling / butt pain.

                my 2 cents...

yeah! why are you not interested in this option?? Because it will cost you more?? Buddy if you love your dog, thats a better way than putting that poor soul on the tank.

I have already mentioned about it:

                  Ok, here is my take.

Buddy if carrying your dog so important and you are willing to spend some and make some compromises, try fabricating a SIDE CAR with seat belt suitable for your dog.

In my opinion, this chap has to banned(or at least a warning should be issued by the mods) from xbhp and a new rule should be made - "XBHP does not encourage or endorse any sought of cruelty towards animals".

I am not an animal activist, but this is madness man. Its not love for your dog, its more of "I can take my dog anywhere" attitude.

PS: This is the first time I am taking this stand in support of any animal.
