  • [Help]: Is a 125cc bike capable of touring?

    can a 2year old discover 125 cover a trip of 1500 kms
    bike is in good shape
how important it is to feel strong,
    rather than just being strong.

    Query Moved and Approved.

I do not see a single reason why it is not possible. Just service the bike properly, and take it wherever you want to. I don't think there will be ANY issues at all.
    :)

More than the bike its the rider that usually has troubles
your bike will do fine carry a spare spark plug and other things you will need. Have a safe trip

But the problem with the 125cc bikes is that you'll feel that the engine is strained after riding it for long at speeds of 85 KM/H or above...

I own a Discover 125. It runs fine but i agree it will strain on a 1500 km run, do you intend to do the run quickly covering max km per day den on highway i would suggest a little bit of sprocketing dropping a teeth might relax the bike on a highway

Bike is well prepared for the 1500km trip in stock, without any additional mods. Go ahead!

There wont be any problems if the following precautions are taken.....

1 - Change the Engine oil before the Trip
2 - Service the Bike before the Trip
3 - Bike should be in stock conditions
4 - Do not ride her full throttle through out the Ride
              5 - Leave a break of some 20 - 30 mts between 2 hours of continuous riding....

+1 to above. service the bike 1 week before the trip. coz just incase there is any problem in service or so. u can work on that n will have enough time to repair.

well I don't think there is ne peoblem with Disco125 for 1500Km trip.

Yes check out the thread A 100cc braves the mountains

There a guy rode on his splendor to some ghats and was successful.
So you will find no problems running your discover.Just take all the precautions listed above. All the best.

                        IMHO..

touring is not really about the constant high speeds. Its about enjoying what you do at what ever is comfortable for both you and your bike.

So 100 ...125..220...anything . You want it YOU do it.

like others said be sure to have certain important spares, like cables and plugs, and voila your ready.
                        - You spend half your life before you realize your are ordinary, you then, either are too lazy to change or you do the extraordinary and change the world!

a friend of mine rode his splendor all the way to hyderabad from bangalore alone and he started the ride at 8pm and reached hyd for breakfast...

so u can happily do touring on a 125cc only thing is u should enjoy the ride...its not about cc's but how much u enjoy the ride, maybe higher cc bikes can go faster...but still any bike is capable of touring its all left to the rider....
