  • Pulsar 180 : Stuck at 8K RPM!

    Hi guys,

i am posting on behalf of my friend.

He has got a Bajaj pulsar 180.

The issue with is that the rev's go up only 8k in top gear. The cut of is 10300 right ?

At a recent service bike was tuned and the problem still remains .

any clue as to why ?

      180 classic or dtsi ?

      classic has no cut off

      dtsi has it at 10,000

      So many possible factors dude
Carb, afr, air filter clogging, exhaust problem,CDI or Pblm with engine oly (not enuf power :-P) etc etc
Need more details to trouble shoot better.

Open the seat , Take a 12 Ring Open the Bolt holding the tank.
Below that u ll see a black box with Bajaj written on it. DJ ... whatever part number.

Does it rev to rev limiter on other gears?
K and Hen :-) will be the culprit most of the times

            i have a 180 dtsi n am using k&n(from 4 years)
but off late there s slight delay in power transmission in 1st n 2nd gear...
when i shift to 3rd gear there is sudden feelin of increase in power.. more like some1 had tied bike for sometime n then released....

the jets and the carb were cleaned in the last service.

yup just confirmed its got a k&n. he has bee using that since the last 1 year.

in neutral it goes somewhere upto 9k. havent checked it till the limit in other gears.

looks like a problem with your clutch plates bro.

act i have changed my clutch plate a month ago... and this is my 3rd clutch plate in 5 yrs...
also pressure plates... everything is changed... still.... is it due to air flow problem...
coz when i had first bought k&n it was not popular in india n mechanics din't hav much idea bout adjustin carb with changed filter.....

@binodh- did u get the chain set changed recently???
@avin- i think the bike's runnin on richer mixture thats why it isn't revving properly..this prob is omnipresent on free flow air filters..at higher rpms, free flow air filters stuff more into the engine as compared to the stock and hence the engine can't rev any higher..u can make it rev higher by getting high lift cams...

This problem came back in my STOCK bike too ... Only that it reaches 107 kmph at best.

Also, the same problem is in a friends' bike too... by the name of Pavan.C, in Xbhp and many others too...

I'm beginning to feel that Bajaj has ignored us. I complained multiple times, nothing happens at Service Station. He just loosened the tappets, nothing happens...?

I guess those HH fans are not wrong, when they say that Bajaj is not worth it ...
