Dude, you got it the other way around. Its OEM batteries that seem to fail in a pretty short time. And no marks for guessing why this is so!!Originally posted by vipin_s View PostBattery life depends on many factors apart from manufacturers' credentials, self usage among bikers varies a lot. Some use 'self' judiciously and their battery last longer, and few use it all the time sometimes w/o choke such batteries will not last longer. So different bikers rate batteries differently.
I personally found OEM fitted batteries last longer and are more reliable and durable than those available in market (can't digest the fact though!). AMCO-Yuasa are really good batteries, AMCO-Yuasa OEM lasts really long very very long !!
You probably think so because you are talking with reference to Amco Yuasa batteries. FYI, "Amco Yuasa" no longer exists as I belive I mentioned earlier. It is only Amco now, as the colloboration ceased long ago. I very well know that the original Amco Yuasas lasted really long... used one for 7 long years! If you expect that to happen with the current Amcos, you will be sorely disappointed.
Goes without saying that battery life is also dependent on usage and maintainence besides its quality. Have mentioned that already. But it is really peeving when in spite of all the care, Exides and Amcos just don't last much... and ruin your bike while they live.

Right, sad that Amco-Yuasa is no more (they were most prefered batteries during yesteryears by almost all OEMs)....I have no idea about current AMCO batteries.Originally posted by Raccoon View PostDude, you got it the other way around. well friends,
here is my story with batteries,
12 may 2006 purchase hero honda super splendor and it came with exide stock battery
around 13 May 2007
had some battery problem so went to service centre he checked the battery and told that one cells has failed, if you would have come 1 day earlier we could have replaced the battery.
I did not pay any heed to him and whenever i used to service the vehicle just asked the service person to top up water and charge it. and Charge used to last 3-4 months. As my bike has self start after running the battery 1-2 kms it used to get charged and then give1-2 self starts , so in this way i kept using the battery and ultimately battery s power retaining capacity started reducing and just two days back i changed the battery and chain sproket was recommended to change by HH service centre guy. clocked at around 35K kms, so my stock exide battery lasted total 5 yrs inspite of being termed as waste by service centre after 1 yr of purchase..
So dont believe service centre people i spare parts should be rough n tough but service centre people insist on changing spark plug, chain, sprocket bore etc etc coz then only they get money, and can run businesssK.Ravi
Do check out my custom painted tail light in my DIY thread ;) ...

you mean to say that amaron batteries does not require water to top-up ever. is it so, tell me the price, next time i will try it, though my exide never gave me any problems.Originally posted by jd666 View PostI would suggest Amaron, the maintenance free, sealed version. Second in line would be Tata-green ( sealed type again ), and then Amco. In that descending order.
