      1) Rohtang closes around mid/late-Oct BUT, you never know when unexpected snowfall might leave you stranded in Batal, as Kunzum too would be blocked. Plus the dhaba there, will not be open at that time so it is a possibility that you might have to camp in the shelter (white framed tin bunk) opposite the dhaba. So its advisable to carry your own camp and canned food.

      2) There are a few locals who run camps on the banks of chandrataal, but thats during the season. In October, there's no certainity.

      3) Might take a toll on you, but not on the Zma engine that'll carry you there.

Your plan, obviously looks hurried. When I went there, Chandrataal was blocked, otherwise I would have most certainly made it a point to visit it. You should have added another day when you returned last time on, for Chandrataal ...

Nonetheless, if you have the time then there is no harm re-visiting. Just be careful, it being October

        thanks

@ kurtrules: thanks for the info ... currently i am going as per the above schedule. In case i encounter any such problems I will not unnecessarily delve further into the mountains.
Although i wanted to go to manali initially for a smallish ride but then i thought "Chandratal == why not" .
Praying to the gods for a clear weather.
