  • Help me for shaky handles in my P180

Guys,, I own a P180 UG3 which is around 2 years and 4 months old which was in mint condition. My bike met with a small accident 2 months back, (actually it skidded off when my bro was driving) and had a broken handle and tank with bruises on headlight cowl an stuffs. i replaced all the worn out parts including the handle and had a check for the bent fork and rectified it too. But after that i had a new prob of shaking handles at a particular speed (i.e.,) in the range of 50-60 kmph.

I complained it to the mech and they changed the cone set of my bike which couldn't solve the prob. Again visited the service centre and they did entire overhauling of the fork assembly and aligned the wheel, checked for alloy bend and disc bend but nothing existed in vain.. But the prob is not rectified at all.. again i visited another Bajaj service centre where they said the T-Links needs to be checked and did the same and also aligned the inner tubes of my shocks.

They also said there is a small tilt in my disc and aligned it. I took my bike happily and tested and to my satisfaction there is no shaking in the range of 50-60 kmph.. but it started after 60 kmph and exists through out. The handle shakes as if my bike suffers from Parkinson's disease.. Now the mech's are saying that there is nothing to replace and they couldn't find the exact prob too.. they now suggest me for an entire replacement of the fork of my bike. Please help me out guys. It's really very very tough to handle the bike with such a problem...

I too have similar problem in my p150
when asked, bajaj guy asked me to change suspension bush(some rubber tube like thing)

and Castrol bike zone one told me the reason was irregular wear of the rear tyre and asked me to change the rear tyre

as the prblm is not that intense i am not that keen to change...

Ha..I have the same problem with my P180UG3 after it met with a minor accident.
There's a small bend in my alloy it seems and they call it wheeel dancing problem.
I just lived with it. Why do i have to leave the handlebar every now and then to check if its wobbling.
Well, make sure there is no bend in ur alloy.
Since u've changed everything, I would suggest you to just live with that imperfection bro.

the problem might me due to cracked alloy, suspension problem or tires
my opinion try reducing the front tire pressure and then take a ride...
i think its for front...tire right...??? try doing this..

brother the same problem was being faced by me in my cbz classic.
it can be because of the two things.
              1. swing arm bushes worn out
              2. t-cone bearing
say bajaj people to check these two....
if they are the main problem try changing
them. it will cost u much less.

Dude I am also having same problem like yours. The bike shakes when the speed between 50 - 60 kmph. 58 kmph is where i get the highest shake. Changed the cone set, removed the wheel bend but still it exist. One mech told its due to the tyre problem and all pulsars above 15K on the odo has this problem
Next i need to try changing rear sprockets bearings and swing arm bush

Amarkarthi : Does your handle shakes when you are keeping your hands on the handlebar OR when you leave the hands off ?

                      Checked everything

                      @ Coplay@180

Buddy i checked for alloy and disc bends.. They are perfectly fine. But my mech says that there's a slight degree of tilt in my front disc. But he couldn't assure me that as the cause for the shake... Weird prob causing me to worry a lot..

                      @ Mithun.

I can feel the sake even when my hands are on the handle dude. To be exact it is not wobbling, it sways to make short vibrational circle like shakes, that too in a large magnitude when i cross some 65kmph.. once my wrist watch straps got off due to the shake when i try pushing my bike with tht shake.. Couldnt tolerate at all.. help me guys..

Is there any way to contact Bajaj people directly to get assistance in solving this issue. Because i live in a town where just only one service engineer is there who couldn't solve my prob. Even took it to the nearest city where i couldn't get a solution for this prob from 3 service outlets of Bajaj..

                        interesting one -

-Did u get the front hub bearings checked???

                        - Is one fork leaking oil?? or are there any marks of oil on the shocker leg???

                        - Next time you get your front forks serviced, make sure the amount of oil that goes into both legs is equal, to the last ml. ( or you can get it checked now ).

                        - Also there is no mention of the Handle T or crown being checked, were they checked for trueness???

                        - the bend in the disc can cause the wobble as the momentum builds up, but then it should also progressively increase.

                        - Check tyre pressure ( though already suggested, and try lowering )

                        - Do the disc brake pads touch the disc when left free. When the bike is on the main stand, rotate the wheel and check. Hold the suspension and see if you can feel any unwanted vibrations.

                        - Have you gotten the front alloy balanced with the tyre on?

@ Amarkarthi - The solution is to replace the tyres.

                          Also check this.

Even I have been experiencing this wobble at 60+kph in my P150. Had been on a long ride recently where I went through a couple of deep craters at fairly high speeds. Wobble is present only when I let go off the handle-bars. Waiting for a solution. Will get it checked in the next service.

                              @ jd666

Dude i agree that the momentum of the shake should increase if it's bcos of the tilt in disc, but in my case it vanishes when i cross a mark of 80 kmph and no issues when i'm around 90kmph, even when i leave off the handles.(Funniest thing when i leave the handle and as the throttle closes and speed starts and decreasing and reached 72kmph on the speedo, again shake starts)... But my handles are perfectly fine without any shake till 60 kmph..

Moreover T-Stem bend, Fork Bend, Fork tube oil level, Oil seal of the shocks, wheel balancing with the alloy - Done and no issues found. Only thing left which needs to be checked is the front wheel bearing.

One Strange thing i noticed is the black area of the front tyre (the curcumferential area that is in contact with the road) is not equivalent on both sides of the centre line, i mean the wear seems to be uneven from the centre. My odo reads 12,000k and the tyre started worning out jst now.. Also
i can see some cracks along the tyre on its side walls near the alloy..

Also when i tried rotating my wheel with the centre stand and front wheel lifted, it makes 3/4th of the turn and gets tighter. I reported it to the mechanic and he said, its due to the disc tilt.

Really i'm literally fed up with this weird issue guys.....

Can i contact Bajaj through e-mail for my prob, pls guide me guys.. My drive has gone really pathetic..
