[Help]: Tyres,Gear Box and Performance
Hi Guys... Well I am a NooB when it comes to bikes so please do pardon me if what I ask is funny or whatever. Anyways let me get to the point. I am bound to change my bikes tyres pretty soon and I came across a friend of mine who suggested me to use Soft Compound Tyres rather than Hard Compound. So is using Soft Compound Tyres good on a 220 or rather let me put it this way. Is it safe to use in the Indian Road Conditions and Weather? I also heard that Soft Compound tyres have the maximum grip when they are heated and on a normal weather condition but it tends to loose traction if the tyres/road conditions are wet. True? And also which is the best set of tyres for 220 and is there any 6 Speed Gear Box for 220? Aftermarket stuffs or anything. If nothing can I get some tips on how to increase the bikes performance? Anyways thanks for your time and also for replying to this Query. Thank you in AdvanceDont Live To Die. Die To LiveTags: None

There are many Gyans in XBHP who can help with your Query - but since they are all a bit busy - i would like to input my Tips to you
1 - Soft Compound Tyres has better grip in the road - yes your correct - these tyres has better grip then the normal Nylon base Tyres
MRF Soft compound tyres are been given in Stock for the R-1-5 and P220 DTSI - they needs to be driven for few minutes to make the tyres Heaten up
2 - Im not sure there are any 6 speed Gear boxes available for P220 but since the P220 gear box itseld is not Tall i belive you cannot do this
3 - To increase the performance of the Bike you can switch to Iridums, Split Fires, K&N, Free Flow, Sprocketing etc etc - But doing this will all ruin your SMoother Ride.......

Yes- Soft tyres offer better road grip when upto temperature.. But they are built for tar, not for offroading.. Also they are not as grippy as hard compound tyres on wet surfaces..
You may want to get the new P220's (dtsi) tyres for your P220 (assuming its the dtsfi).. Will be a perfect fit..

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

i m using zapper soft compund and its around 8k KM and by looking at the tyre i can guess @~15k it will be bald but if we leave one or two bad puncture experiences , the over all performance is nice. u can go for any soft compund tyre but keep in mind that they will wear out much faster then hard Compound one.
regarding gear box change i too, would like to hear from gurus that is it even possible to have 6 gears on 5G motorcycle?
