  • Disc Pads For Hero Honda CBZ.

First Of All Thanks Mods for Validating my A/C.This is my first post/thread on xbhp.

I got a Nov 2003 Classic Hero Honda CBZ clocked 27640kms single owner.
Recently noticed sum sound from the front disc brake took so took it to my local trusted mechanic. He told there are 2pads inside and 1 is worn out completely as that dat does the brakin work. Those pads were changed 3yrs back from Authorised Hero honda service station and were from NISSIN.I asked whether they have nissin pads and for an answer i got an 'NO'!!.They had sum local stuff that costed Rs175/-.Im really worried to put these local ones & those NISSIN pads cost too much around Rs900/-.

So i wanna know from xbhp techies is it ok to use those local ones?
My running is 30kms a day and i use the discs very often. Can anyone throw sum light on the difference between local and the branded ones??

    Help appreciated

The pads for both Karizma and Old CBZ are same and the make is Nissin. The pads now cost a bomb, literally a bomb, 2250/-.

There are good alternatives. Try Apache's disc pads; they are available for 450 bucks. Another option is ASK pads for CBZ. You can get these from any good automobile spare shop. ASK is OEM supplier of disc pads for Honda. I have used these in my Zma and found them to be good. They price is just 100 bucks.

ASK (not 'ASK OEM') pads are just 100 bucks. Try them once and if you are satisfied you can keep them. If not, you can dispose them and go for Apache's Pads. You will not get ASK pads at Honda showroom. You have to look for them at general and popular automobile shops.

ASK pads have been on my Zma for the past 9k kms. Still going good.

Just 95 bucks. You can use one in every month if you want. But, use and see if you are satisfied with the braking.

Pads design for Honda bikes are different and hence you will not get CBZ pads at Honda.

Yes! Just 100 bucks man! Do not pay a single penny above 100. The pads for CBZ Xtreme and Hunk are different. Karizma and Old CBZ are the only bikes with Nissin assembly.

Yes! The disc assemblies on CBZ-X and Hunk are not Nissin.

Even me too felt the same. I used to buy Nissin pads for Karizma when the price was 750. I do not know what has gone wrong but first they increased the price to 1500 and now to 2250. The entire ZMA owners got a big jolt with this. Unwilling to pay 2250 for pads, seached for alternatives and god hold of these ASK pads. They are serving me well.

Some people reported hardening of the pads after 3-4k kms, but I never faced this. Even if they become hard after 3k kms, still you can use them because they are so cheap.

After installing them, wait for a day or two till the pads are run-in. They would be soft initially.
