LM339 is Quad Comparator. LM340(U1) is 5V regulator for the comparator ICs. Resistors set the voltage at which the LEDs comes ON. The high beam signal dims the LEDs at night.

And, the gear signal is a potentiometer connected to the gear shaft I guess. Atleast, its o/p is a variable voltage signal where voltage varies with gear shifts.

Yeah, its possible and simpler than the design specified here. We will need 2 switches, J-K Flip Flops forming a counter, BCD-7 seg decoder and LED display.
Hmm... How will we install the switches? Or is it possible to use a different mechanism, more reliable and solid state.

Pulsar make use of Magnetic switches, for even Side stand indicator. Can we make use of them here?

Can anybody provide Zeus's Electrical diagram?

This is interesting mod. 4 speeder would do just fine for my Fiero. Any idea if that bolt on kit is still available?

We can install a magnet on the gear shaft/lever. Now, we can install 2 reed switches/hall sensors near it to detect movement in a particular direction.

Well, I can help you. But I can not guarantee you that it will be that simple! And, I am a bit busy nowadays. Maybe I can do something in a week or 2.

How would a pot on the gear shaft work?. The selector shaft always return to the centre positionwhen released. Also I its possible, then its cheaper and easy to use a LM3914 Led driver IC.

Any Electronics guy here who is good at DIY Electronic circuits? In that case PM me regarding the Digital circuit I made for the Gear Position Indicator.

Yeah, what you say is true on most bikes. Maybe the specific bike this was used on has something similar. That was an informed guess at best.

Well, you can post the schematics regarding the circuit here. It will surely help a lot of ppl here.

What do you mean bu "POT" here. And putting anything on gear shaft will require dissassembling and assembling of mechanical parts which only a trained or good DIY artist could do.

POT refers to a potentiometer! Electronics guys do tend to get carried away sometimes!

Here is the Circuit Diagram of the Bike Gear Position Indicator as requested. I had assembled this circuit and it works ok. My sunbeam already has a mechanical gear position Indicator and never install it on the BSA as i didnt want to loose the originality. Anyone Assembling this circuit and installing it on the bikes please keep me posted on the progress.

That is quite a complex design. I can not say I can understand it completely.
