of course..and plus u guys are running the risk of dust and other particles directly entering your engine..which will kill it in the long run a lil too soon

Snorkel helps ur Bike to Intake a perfect amount of Air and supplies it without any hassle
It helps your engine breath perfectly
If it is been removed - you will feel that a slight different sound from your Pipe - the reason is that the Intake air gets more - so the pipe sounds different
At keeping the Indian Biking scenario of Rain water and Dust entering in ----------Imagine-------in these times Snorkel plays a Vital part of making your bike breath better

Do not Remove Snorkel if your a Tourer - and who rides in rain and dusty areas - atlast - it will be better to say DO NO REMOVE IT
i love when someone tries to sound cool!

so, coming to the point, the snorkel is there to give a slight bend to the direction of air flow and its function is to reduce the resonance inside the air intake box. when air enters directly from top of the space it reaches the resonance frequency when we accelerate hence making more sound.
and mind it , it happens only when accelerating because thats the period when air rushes in at maximum vol/sec.

and another thing for you! the sound we hear is produced is coming from the air box and not the exhaust.the exhaust makes normal sound but we we overhear it as air box makes a different sound at different pitch.
the sound we hear is amalgamation of the sound of air intake box and the exhaust.

        and

your words (or rather lack of them in form of blanks) tells a lot about your
        "bikerness"
sorry if i offended you but no one should pass BS as facts sarcastically!

i think my reply is good enough as my first post at xBhp! thanks!

50k km done without snorkel nothing bad happened to engine.. u just need to re tune the mixture or at higher altitude just remove it... service interval decreases ... the engine breathes better, revs better , performance increases slightly ...
