No, wont work. Its a three phase one, and we need a single phase RR unit. It is costlier too.

        modification done!!!!!!!!

i have compleated my modification today evening.the coil rewinding was done by 19 gauge wire and vernish, but i think the quality of rewinding can be improved,i mean to say the coil is not very neatly winded but its done from a reputed motor winding mechanic.the person who winded the coil added if he had more time like a week he coulld have been wind the coil in a better way ,but he also told that the coil he gave me should do the job,not to worry.!!

after that i took the coil to the car electrician mr.hydar.he is the best ,only one word can describe him GENIUS.I told him the idea and he started himself,,just he saw the diagram of the circit in a glimpse and started the work and finished it.he added a relay for headlamp which is direcly feeding on the battery.i didint had multimeter,so i asked him only to check the voltage.

my bike is running a 55/50 headlamp and rest all are stock.
        MY BIKE WITHOUT ANY LOAD--
        at 1000 rpm -12.5 volts
        2500 rpm-13.4 volts
        3000 rpm 14.6 volts

        MY BIKE WITH 60 W HEADLAMP+5w tail+5w numberplate+2*5w=10 w position +2*5w instrument pod
AT 3000 rpm-13.5volts but refuses to increase later.
my mech told the battery is quite weak and while cranking the self the voltage drop according to his special BOSCH unit is quite a lot, thats why the voltage is not 14,5 volts everytime.
he also added the voltage stabilization is very nice and with out load its 14.5 v from 1k-9.5k,thats according to him is verry impressive.
he also added that to ride the bike for two days and then check the charging voltages and amps as the battery is low on juice.

my personal exp-at first when there was no relay for headlamp it was givin light like a 35 w bulb, also gettin down when bolwin the horn,or usin break or indicaters!!!!!
after putting relay, its dammmmnnnnnn nice.no drop, hell, its close to my friends brand new pulsy 220 which was there.my friend addded he is really amazed to see the improvement of my light!!
i rode the bike for 4kms after that in city,no prob till now.
if it stays this way i am more then happy

Wow! I am happy for you! Check the battery after a few days. If all is well you can even try out a 100/90W bulb!

          And, whats the total expenditure?

You guys are lucky you don't have that shitty BCU to mess with all mod plans. I have a UG3 and the most I can do on my bike is swap the coil with one from the avenger 180 and install a 65watt bulb [which i already did] and then convert the bike to DC as suggested by Rahuldevnath.

ps.according to my friend, in his new p 220 when high beam is on then he blows the horn at base rpm,the light dims a bit for a moment,
but after modification mine showed no stress like this.

will update more info as i ride it today.

Well spent. Normally these auto electricians will charge around 500/- for winding and labour.

OEM? too much of money involved

How did u fitted a P220 HB? onto a foglamp frame? Pls post some pics, even am looking for a good HB setup, as my projector is not that good for HBms.

Anything between 12.8-14.8 is OK. After charging the battery for a few days, you can check battery voltage with engine off. It should be around 12.4V. Then, everything is perfect.

I too used high gauge wire from coil to RR unit and from RR unit to battery. Rest is stock except for h/l relay.

And so what reflector are you using now? Amby?

@abhi- i am using the ug 3 unit now with phillips xtream power 55/60,rest all are stock, even with this i am able to cause some serious discomfort on p 220 owners.i am following your route only.will run this for some time then i will think of switching over to 90/100 with lucas amby headlight unit,i was very happy with lucas reflecter which i was using with (now history)fiat 1100.
still this date there is no prob at all with morning start with starter motor, and my engine is not that well tuned, sometimes it needs 2 to 3 cranks for 5-10 secs of cranking then the engine starts.
also i am not able to understand any extra load to engine, also no rpm drop,i havent touched the ideling screw!!!
