  • bigger disc on honda unicorn

i won a honda unicorn of 2006 model last week when i gave to servicin in honda service station i complained them about bad braking of my disc brakes and i told them to tighten up my brakes .... at the time of delivery their mechanic told me that my older disc pads damaged my disc's making some lines on my disc ..... so said the disc has to be replaced ....
    Now,
cant i upgrade for a bigger mm disk like that of karizma without changing the whole set of capilers or hose and the complete set ......
Just the disc it is okay with me if the alloy has to be changed ......
    THANK YOU

Replacing your whole disc setup (stock) may be more sensible. But if you are bent on a larger disc, Karizma has one of the biggest disc, though this would mean changing front rims + forks + whole front brake assembly.

And the added braking will create issues, because the braking will be too much under sudden braking.

Get the disc mounted on a lathe and get it machined 0.1mm on both sides ( called facing). Provided the disc is within wear limits. You will have to check with the service manual at the workshop.

You need to try this before changing the disc.

Changing to ZMA's alloy and disc is sufficient as its retrofit to Unicorn. One of my fren has done it on his Uni.

Oh!!! boy, I reread about 10 times to understand what you wanted to convey. Initially I thought you were awarded (own=won confusion) with a Unicorn 2006 model (and wondered why they gave you an old stock in 2010) for getting your vehicle serviced regularly at Honda Service station

Go for replacing the discs from Honda A.S.S, the stock ones are more than sufficient. BTW, how much did you clock on your odo?

Last time I checked it was around Rs.900/- for cbz-xtreme. (CBZ-X, Uni, Hunk have common discs)

Calipers are not very prone to breaking down(braking - yes, breaking - no !). The only instance I've heard of them being replaced is in the event of an accident.

The caliper setup would make your wallet lighter by roughly 1.8K.

dude ... u don have to change the disk even if there pad is making lines etc on disk ... jus change pads. ideally one should change the disk when it has warped ... if it is not warped then u can use it; new disk pads will adjust them self to surface of disk .
Me too have a disk that resembles seturn's halo!

with fz's front alloy u'll have speedo issues .. i dont know if the speedo unit will fit on it or not ... the device that is at wheel center.

btw i m using a 298 mm disk and it is dangerously powerful but definaltly saved me from srs collisions.
