  • Adding Two Spark Plugs to TVS - Plan Changed

    Hi Mates,

I own TVS Flame (Mono Spark Plug) Bought on September 2008 - she has completed more than 15k ODO.... I didnt had much a problem with all these days
But For the past two weeks i found her not well as there is some kind of Grinding and pissing noise came from the engine from Low End to 40....After 40 she was Smooth... and the usual Grinding Noise at Low Speeds become more Frequent -- and she handled lot more Badly...Ger shifts were bad and Clutch got more Tighten than usual

Since the TVS SV guys S***S and their Mechanics doesnt know anything more that to Clean the Vehicle...
Without Minding the warranty Period i took her to one of my Friends Trusted Local Mechanic....After examining he suggested that the Possible things are that the Tappets Adjustments and Valve train needs to be adjusted and to add the extra spark Plug...which is not available - as you all know the Extra Spark Plug Area in the Engine has been Made Dummy and the Hole has been Welded with a Lid

He also mentioned that the Piston head needs to be Shaved for to stop that Grinding sound, and the Clutch Plates needs examining if needed replacement
He quoted 1.5K to 2K for to do these things and some minor Servicing....

Is it advisable to add the extra spark plug for the Older Flame which was released by TVS with a Mono Spark Plug ?
And Shaving the Piston Head will any way resolve my Problem?
Can i Trust the Local Mech to these things?

I need Experts advice for this....

I edited the title of the thread.
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

Since there is no Dedicated Member in XBHP helped me - for my Issue...
I had to take my own Decession

I said yes to my mechanic to do the Changes....But after further examining of the Head - he said that he can resolve my problem without adding the Extra Spark Plug...

And the changes that were made to the Engine were

      Piston Head Shaving
Valves Holes Extended (all the 3 valve)

To my surprise all the Grinding noise of the engine has resolved and the engine feels butter smooth in all the gears - doesnt matter if i raise the accelerator even in the 4th Gear at speeds of 20 - the engine feels butter Smooth...

To Frank I've never ridden a Flame with this much Smoothness - even when i test drives the New DS125cc of Flame...

The mechanic just costed me 500INR for the over all servicing and to do the above Job...

He also quoted that he has the experience of handling LML Energy which was also an 3 Vavlve Eneing which had the same kind of Problem that now Flame is having...

I've been adviced to run in below 60KM for next 200KM or so.... to make the head and valves set for the new setup....

Im advising to all Flame Owners to do the above things to bring your Engine to Life...

TVS SVC really really really S****s.....I would rather say TVS Enginers are Stup**s...

I am sorry to ask you sir, but would not shaving the piston lower your compression, there by decreasing the power of the bike?

          ^^^

Yes i too asked this question to the mech - but he said that there will not be any major change in the Power Delivery...
But still i need to finish the Runin period and AFA now i feel the Initial Pickup is really nice --- will have a test of the full power Band after the RUNIN Completes.

            @Thunder

Dude, I heard from the senior technician at the TVS SVC here that company will be replacing the current Flames with a new kit which has twin-sprakys.The kit is priced at Rs.3000 and i wonder if it's free or the customer has to be charged for it.
