You MAY have to change wiring harness. Not sure.

Wiring harness will definitely be costlier than stator coil or RR. But you will have to change all 3. Its something like changing entire wiring kit to UG4.

Dude, U need to replace the RR with UG4 which is a full DC, and slight wire mods. Open the stator cover, unground the black wire which is connecting the ign coi and light coil. De solder black wire and light coil wire which are grounded to the body. Connect the light coil wire only to the black wire and insualte it with any epoxy or heat shrink sleeve. Take out the both light coil wires from the wiring harness, feed it through the UG4 RR, dont depend on wiring harness to do this as internal gnd tappings are there. Feed the RR out to the batt, and re route the stock light out wire from the stock RR out to batt. Done. Pls be very care ful in wire mods as it can smoke the entire thing in secs, depend on a reliable auto electrician not a mech to do this.

            1. Get the pulsar 180 UG4 coil pack and rectifier
            2. Give them to mechanic and tell him to replace my Pulsar 200 coil pack and rectifier
            with UG4's

            Right?
If you plan to upgrade to Pulsar UG4 electrical system fully OEM, then you need to spend considerable amount and change the following:
            (1) Stator Coil - (200 and 180 have slightly different coil)
            (2) BCU
            (3) Rectifier
            (4) Full Wiring

There's no need to change CDI as such. All of the above things have to be replaced for full OEM replacement, but if with little knowledge, Custom Wiring and stator coil can be altered to suite DC setup.

+1 to what rahul says.its the easiest ,safest choice you have.
                    stator coil-600.00
bcu- no idea ask rahul for its price?he changed once for his p 180.
                    rectifier 450.00-650.00
wiring -no idea at all but can be close to 500.00-900.00

all rates are approx and in Indian rupee.

there is another option by which rahul did changed his old p 180ug3,which had the bcu unit by the way,.he did some mod in wiring and it was running hid flawlessly.its time and tour tested also.by the way its lot safer to follow a guy who does pan india tour frequently on a modded prototype.
kudos to him.trust me on this.

BCU or Body Control Unit, is a CDI like component in the housed in front dome.

Basically BCU serves all the electronic stuff on Pulsar which include Speedo, Contac-less Switches,Self Canceling indicators etc. In AC and DC models they are different.

If u stick to OEM its a costly affair, rather I would say go for other simple alterations. UG4 RR will cost 450-500 dont remember exactly, others are simple wire mods all will cost max of 200-300 bucks incl labour. And this is also an OEM part, will not let u down unlike the local RRs.
