  • Pipercross Air filter for PULSAR 150 dtsi (july 2005)

    Hey Guys

I stay in Mumbai. I own a Red Pulsar 150Dtsi (July 2006). I just got a new silencer for it as old silencer ran out of glass wool fibre.

I wanted to put Pipercross filter for my PULSAR 150 dtsi july 2006 for better performance.
Also one of my friend suggested to get fuel rejetting done if I am getting an air filter. Is it necesarry.
What all are the changes I will find in my bike after that.
    1. Mileage (currently it gives 40 kmpl)
    2. Acceleration.
    3. Top Speed (It goes upto max 120 kmph on oddo).
    4. Sound (My friends r15 gives awsome roaring sound.)

Also suggest me if I should put a Piper Cross or a K&N filter.

And what all care should be taken after fitting the air filters.
How should the fitting be done, I mean should it be kept in a way that I can put my Stock filter back anytime I wish.
What precautions should be taken while washing the bike after fitting air filter.

How much will it cost estimate
    1. Air filters
    2. Fuel Rejetting
    3. Labour charges

    Thanks & Regards

Yup, it is necessary..in order to use the air filter to its potential..! Otherwise no use of putting the air filter.

Might drop a bit bcoz of making the AF mixture a bit rich.

        2. Acceleration.

The initial acceleration increases a bit.

        3. Top Speed (It goes upto max 120 kmph on oddo).

There shoud be negligible change in top speed.

        4. Sound (My friends r15 gives awsome roaring sound.)

        Its gonna change but of-course.

Also suggest me if I should put a Piper Cross or a K&N filter.

K&N is better in terms of quality.

How should the fitting be done, I mean should it be kept in a way that I can put my Stock filter back anytime I wish.

Ideally it should be put inside the air-box compartment..where the stock filter is present.

k&n rc1060 - 1.8k.. best bet for ur bike.. start from +2 size jets..
the method is,give it full throttle after installing both the filter and jet,the bike should not jerk and also don't use brakes and let the engine slow down, also during which there should be no jerks..
if there are jerks during acc-then next size main jet
if the bike jerks/spliters durin dcc - then next size slow jet.

as per precautions, since u will be installing inside ur air box,i guass no water will enter any way..the filter should be oiled depending on the conditions, which can be done in any car accessory shop using k%n filter oil..
RED BULL did'nt give me WINGS, my BIKE did !!

Plz provide da no. and link
                        I hav fitted K&N RC1060 on my discover 135 2007 model
Before installing air filter my top end was 105 km/hr
After installation top end got reduced to 95 km/hr
I hope jetting will solve the issue.
I hate being a pillion, iff the rider is senseless.

This is weird man... Does the Top end actually goes down after fitting air filter... I have heard it for the first time.
This also could be because U have fitted bigger tyres on the Bike when U changed to the new air filter...

Hey how much was the total cost to fit the K&N air filter...
Also give detail costing and specification of the tyres u fitted
And as It is your bike would never go above 105 km/ph... So can we have a race till Lonavla dis weekend...

People just to infrom you on this
the valves provided on any pulsar is weak when compared to any other bikes valves.
Using a K & N will surely give you better performance but the valves provided on your bike cant withstand the power for long . they will collapse any day.
IF the bike does collapse and you go to the company for a warranty replacement , the company guys would not do it for you just because you have changed the filter.
                              Please take care of this.
If you a real bike geek then listen to the engine sound with the stock air filter fitted on it clearly.. mainly the valve sound . which is a little hard to notice
Then fir the K&N and then check the noise .
                              It comparatively would have increased.

This is the same for any bajaj manufactured bike.
