Help me rectifying and upgrading my 2008 pulsar 180
@ DEvIL$ LAir: Ya am going for that now together with a K&N. I have to get the carb tuned too, for both.
Take care dude

The p220 can be pushed a little more since it has higher cc. The p180 is not gonna give much gains with an exhaust alone, coz it needs more internal work.
The most potent engines in business is the RTR, R15, karizma, FZ and the p220 to a small extent. Everything else is not gonna give much gains. And this k&N formula is a typical suggestion on every forum and is such a waste of money on a stock engine. how many here have dynoed their engines after this so called, K&N mod, plug wire and with whatever fancy joke you get?
FYI, anybody here can try an automech, KRP, two brothers, proton or daytona exhaust and then dyno their engines to find it really helped or not as expected.
And before you start modding an engine, you need to attain more maturity in understanding what you need and also have some basic understand of engine tuning. Without this much, you will mostly end up in mess and some illiterate mech is bound to loot you and promise the sun and the moon. This is the typical scene in India.
@ Joel: Can you please help me understand these things. You are right, am a kid in technical issues.
I will summarize what exactly I need, For me power, performance and time is what really matters. Am settled in Chennai right now, am kinda someone who depends on my bike when it comes to an emergency reach to native (Kerala).
So top speed (135kmph) and power [(mid range/top range), like when I need a slow down from the top gear to a 3rd gear I need a sudden thrust/pull up to again reach the top end(hope you understand).] is what i exactly need. Currently it just clocks 113kmph to the max (I find it too low for me on highways). Itz really well maintained.
I hope you know what I need now. Can I do anything to achieve this without hurting the Engine.
Please put some light.
Looking forward from you
And buddy whats the reason you dont suggest K&N and what is meant by Dyno on engine.
Take care

^ Pls do some basic google on engine terms and tuning. You will get all answers there.
Like I said already, such level of performance is asking for too much out of a p180.
There is no cut to get better performance.
Look at upgrading to a more potential engine if you really wanna achieve these numbers. Its not that I cant build a fast pulsar, but I will not touch an engine with low potential. Its a waste of efforts and money.
The p220 is decent coz it has the cc advantage and somehow it holds up a little.
My prime developments are for racing and not street builds. Street builds are evolved reliable versions of the race engines. My R15 is a classic example of what race performance on street means. You can never achieve something like that with a pulsar. Period!
The only reason why I entered into a discussion on this thread was coz a lot of points discussed were misleading.
Your target performance has to achieved with the right machine. The pulsar for one is the wrong choice to derive more performance and reliability.
Engines which are engineered to handle more stress and have scope for improvement qualify best. Bajaj has pushed the envelope with the p220 engine in stock trim and its already at its brim. The stock power rating of a given engine is not a factor to extract more power, but is based on the mechanical brilliance. Bajaj engines lack that edge.
We have few members on the forum who have projects completed by me which make enough power to keep them smiling for years and with reliability and fuel efficiency which will outclass its stock counterpart mostly. From 150cc to 260cc versions of different engines which make power anywhere between 18 to 30bhp, its always a version which has no relation to its stock sibling.
There is no point in pushing an engine while its not the best bet to mod.

Fantastic point Joel. Well put
