Last week i had a problem with the self start in my Yamaha Fazer and done about 11K Kms till now. I started my bike with a push start in 2nd Gear and immediately took it to a local mechanic. He checked my bike and told that the problem is with the Starter Motor and can only be corrected the morning.
I told him to leave it as it is as my bike is under warranty and will take it to the service station the next morning. The next morning I took my Bike to Kamla Yamaha (Parel) to fix the problem. The mechanic did an inspection and told that problem is with the Starter Relay (as per him he checked it in other bike also and it was not working) and need to replace it. I did not tell him that I had my bike checked from a local mechanic as this might hamper the "warranty" thing.
He replaced the old relay with the new one and still the bike was having the same problem. Later on he told me that the problem is with the Starter Motor which cost around 1100 Rs and need to replace that. I argued with the engineer that the motor comes under warranty but he was not ready for it. He told that this is a third party motor and Yamaha cant help it.
I asked him about the starter relay then and what about it. He told that our mechanic will check it again and will not replace the old one if it is in working condition.
So finally i was asked to pay only for the new starter motor and not for relay as it was in working condition (which i already knew and the service station guy was fooling me).
I just wanted help from you guys that if Yamaha claims that the bike is under warranty and only perishable items don't come under it (e.g. tires, sparkplug, bulbs etc) then what is the use of it if i cant get a motor replaced.
Also I did not understand why Yamaha Service station guys charged me even if my bike is under warranty.

i got the same reply , i smiled and asked him "yeh workshop hi hai na bhai",anyways i saw there 3bikes for servicing,so was jsut wondering if they dont have oil fiter how they hell they replace the oil filter while servicing,or they really dont do at all , just fool the customer that they have changed the oil filter ,i will request yamaha to take some action about such service centers , which are good for nothing , just spoiling the brand name.
I had the same problem as yours in my Gladiator. The first time the SC guys insisted that my battery wasnt fully charged. So I got it charged. The next time the bike conked off they insisted my battery was faulty. So I bought a new one.
. They never check any problem. Just wash the bike and deliver to the customer. They do not even tighten the chain. And If you don't know anything they charge you a lot for lots of unwanted things. In my third service they wanted to set the tappet of my bike engine and the baby was just completed 3500 Km. I don't know why.. So be careful with YSC guys. I had a fuel pump problem and get the pump replaced free. But i had to do a lot of follow up with Yamaha India. I advice you to send your problem to the following mail ids and give them a daily reminder, as they are always sleepy..
