Since the time that I have made this change the bike stops while idling and stops even while riding. Its like the bike is not getting enough fuel and when I accelerate the bike shuts off. This is happening frequently. Earlier this problem was not there.

As I have changed the silencer, should I get some tuning done of the carb? Also sometimes there are loud noises coming from the silencer (like a bomb bursting).

Please suggest. I will be taking the bike to my mechanic once he is back from his home town.

      Regards,
      Subu.

      • Query

        Hi,

        1. Was just wondering, how many Kms should one ride the STD 350 continuously without halting? 100KM, 200KM, 300 KM?
        2. Can CI engine have a continuous riding like the UCE or the new ones in (P220, R15) which I guess can ride more continuously as the engine does not tend to heat up as much as CI? Right?

        Thanks,
        Subu.

Got a problem with my Std 350. The bike starts well but while riding the bike jerks a lot (like there is no fuel intake). But there was good amount of fuel. Went to the mechanic, he said that there is some carbon deposits in the CB point and cleaned it (he said that this happens in the rainy season). He also checked the spark plugs and cleaned them. But the issue has been solved. The bike still gives a some jerks. Went to him again and he said that there might be some problem with some coil.

Any idea what can be the issue here.

                Thanks,
                Subu.

I hope I have written my query under the right Thread.

                  Hey RAY.
It was orignally Royal Enfield STD 350, but the early owner switched the engine with Lombardini Greaves 325cc 6.5BHP Diesel engine. I bought it, installed new gearbox and new front brake drum and changed original seat to a cruiser type single seat, curved rear fender and painted it in matte black color and some more stuff.

Thats quite something. 'Bacon slicer' flywheel is risky put a grill cover atleast. Mean time i had read on a popular diesel bike forum that the flywheel weight can be lowered by ~25% on these engines. They had experimented by reducing the weight in steps (not dia but thickness) keeping an eye on smooth idling. point being auto engines don't need flywheel weight of a stationary engine. This also improves throttle response. May be u can try with a spare used flywheel.

                      Hello ,dr.cr
Thanks for your suggestion, i will sure try that thing ( flywheel weight reducing) but have to need collect more and precious information about that i.e how much much weight to reduce and all that.

                      • Stuka

This might be my 2nd post on Xbhp after the one that I had posted a few days back regarding an Issue with my Electra.
Guys this forum work great and hats off to everyone around.
Posting a pic of my electra UCE - Stuka which is around an year old now.The best part of RE bulls I feel is you get involved in them, its like breathing life to myself every morning and riding to work.
I travel almost 50 Kms every day to work and with a bull I would have loved if the journey would have been longer.........

                        • My 2005 REThunderbird ! Modified though

Hello everyone...Find here pictures of 2005 Thunderbird. I've done some mods on it though.
The one thing common to most of the mods is that they are all stock replacements, bar the rear hub which I had to get machined to match the 18" wheel rim.
This mod work was done in Bangalore and currently the bike is with me in Pune.
