Problem with my Std 350

Hi,
Got a problem with my Std 350. The bike starts well but while riding the bike jerks a lot (like there is no fuel intake). But there was good amount of fuel. Went to the mechanic, he said that there is some carbon deposits in the CB point and cleaned it (he said that this happens in the rainy season). He also checked the spark plugs and cleaned them. But the issue has been solved. The bike still gives a some jerks. Went to him again and he said that there might be some problem with some coil.

Any idea what can be the issue here.

I hope I have written my query under the right Thread.

Maybe water drops in the carb float chamber? Sometimes happens if the seals are damaged or the carb has not been assembled back properly after service.

It is always better to look for small things like these before going to areas like coil etc.

This Symptom in Std350 is like "common cold"; really could be from a lot of things.
Since you wrote your mech has already gone through the Points (he cleaned it & I guess in the process re-checked the Ignition Timing too), it could be faulty Carb tuning (maybe too rich, resulting in too much carbon deposits in your plug fowling the spark) (or maybe too lean; have you noticed if the sputtering vanishes once the engine has fairly heated up? If so, this could be a high chance.)
It definitely could be an electrical snag (like your mech said the Ignition Coil; it was the case in my Bullet). However, I recommend you to conclude on that a bit later. Have you checked for presence of shorts in your electricals ? (Like a faint spark under the seat while kick-starting ! Try this in dark yourself.)

It could also sometimes be from unassuming situations, like a vacuum developing inside your fuel tank on high speed because of a jammed tank cap & hence, the carb not getting enough petrol at high speed even though your tank has enough fuel.

Also, I assume your mech has already cleaned the carb to make sure if any water had entered in the rains, it has passed out. If not, I recommend you to try this one first. It's the easiest & the quickest check. You will only need to open up the float assembly (by unscrewing the 4 bottom screws in the carb body) & let any fuel in it drain off.

Its' also significant as to what you mean by jerking. Does the bike jerk all the way or at a particular throttle position? Sometimes, faulty throttle settings or a faulty Jet in the carb can result into sputtering. This can be identified if the Bullet sputters only at a particular throttle position.

There could also be numerous other reasons. Hence, the approach should be to find the snag & not to solve the symptom.

Revert back whether you solved the issue.

brother, you've got one sweet looking ride there! but i don't see any air filter cover.did you take it out on purpose or do the US-spec bulls don't come with it? can you please post more right-side profile pics?

here's my bull, it's a '76 model! you can notice that the battery cover is rusting is there an alternative to the chrome battery cover? something rubber-like that doesn't rust? 'coz i think Haku's bull has got that.

PS:this is my first experience with a bull and i have nobody to guide me, so please be patient with me!

seems like haku had powder coated it to give a contrast look as he has his bull in white color btw how long are you having her(the bull) shyn

Here is a picture of my electra. Would post some more pictures soon. Have modified the seat and can make it a single seater if I want. Would be posting some more soon. I love the bike but now a days do not ride it as much as I used to.
