One of the bikes I liked - not a very costly one but pretty good for a chinese make. Though slightly on the heavier side, the shocks, brakes and tyres were great. Sadly it got stolen after about 6-7 months but that was like 2.5 yrs back. Had clicked these pics just when I installed the lights so you may find the wires not really tidy. I am no photographer and these were clicked through a mobile so please don't mind the pics quality

Nice Hero Ranger, one of the best bicycle by Hero. That "All Terrain Bike" sticker would make me feel so proud . I had a black one, searching high and low for the pic.

As far as suggestions, keep it as it is but don't fit the mudguards. The only small modification I had done on my bike was to lower that head set part which connects the handle, I got better control after doing this. check the arrow in the pic below.

Still this bike is fresh in my memory. Infact this was the first MTB that I saw in my life. I was amazed at the size of tyres and the straight handle bar. Before that I have seen only roadsters and BSA SLR.
Good to know that you are restoring jt. IIRC it had chrome mudguards. Do you still have the mudguards ??

U r right i still remember the ad that came out in the newspaper, i used to save the cuttings , it was like a firefox of those times. balloon tyres as they were called in the ad. the front tyre is still the original one in my ranger ..though the same pattern is not available now. the only problem in restoration is that if i repaint the cycle i cant get the decals/ stickers ..so im going in for the functional parts like brakes, tyres, reflectors maybe gears. of course i need a suggestion for the gears as i have no knowledge
and yes i lost the mudguards i guess 15 years ago ..though i never like mudguards on cycles esp ranger.

The bike needs some paint badly. You can take a picture or trace the fonts before repainting. Tracing the font to a white paper will be better. Scan it and cut the stickers from your local sticker cutting shop.
Or if you have time to do or if you are DIY person, you can transfer the same font to a sticker or vinyl sheet and cut with a BP blade or craft blade.


Local gears are available and won't cost much, maybe less than 1000. Go for 6 speed or 5 speed one. If you don't have much climbs. Contact the local cycle store.

Watching few Bikers on the FBD-GGN highway riding fancy bikes tickled my fascination towards this activity. When I visited Yusuf sarai last month, noticed a Hero-One showroom with many bikes being displayed. Made up my mind to purchase one. The reason for the purchase is simple. To regain my body shape of certain Mr. Arnold Schwarzenegger


I contacted Roger bhai, our own Senior XBHPian and visited his shop one day to have a look at other models. My eyes got stuck on the green-black Raleigh Terrain30 bike. After completing all the formalities last Friday, I bough the bike from Roger Bhai. Thank you sir


Rode the bike home from Jhandewalan to C R Park which is a distance of 16 kms & includes 3 flyovers. Been riding since then through the roads of C R Park, Alaknanda & GKII. It really feels AWESOME!!

My New simple ride, the BSA Mach City. I guess these thin tyres should motivate me to make my own tyres like them Bought this as nothing else was available at the store suitable for my height and within my budget. This pic is of the day when i bought this cycle, have now changed the saddle for better family planning purposes

Like monk said, those mudguards will start to flutter and rattle with in a few days, its better off with that since they are not o much use in preventing splash.
What's wrong with the saddle in the picture??? I have seen this saddle and believe its better compared to other saddles at this price range. It even have a relived central part.

Sir, when i told my weight to the cycle mechanic his instant reply was "bhai! Aap toh ek quintal aur 15 kilo ke ho. Aapko railway ka seat barabar hai"
He asked me to cycle with the existing seat and check whether i can get used to it. Yesterday i changed the saddle to a more accomodating one.
The original one no doubt is well built and offers good cushioning but is way too small for a guy like me.

Hi am Aditya, new to xBhp

This is my Giant Yukon actually its an off road bike but i installed road tires earlier for city commuting later changed them to off road tyres

I ride it 3 to 4 times a week, on week ends and even travelling to my office everyday (not everyday but mostly) i have been riding this bike from from last 6 months earlier i use to have a hero ranger model local bike, this bike is pretty smooth and strong and puncture proof and hassel free, i love to ride my Honda CBR250r but still i ride my bicycle everyday.

This bike having Shimano 8-speed Deore grade derailleur in the back and Altus grade derailleur in the front. actually suspension is a bit stiff because its an off-road bike and its not that lite as other road bike i think its about 15kg but still lite to carry on your arms

On weekends i ride a bit longer about 50 to 70 km around city and everyday to my office about 20 km actually u can its maintenance less just u have to clean your chain and re lubricate for every 200 to 300 km i use Finish line Drylube as i mostly commute in dry conditions. about punctures the tubes have self sealant liquid inside so no need to worry about it. it had about 10 punctures from the beginning but no air came out just u have to remove those nails or stones out of tyres thats all.

Lovely bike you got there Aditya. I don't know if that is an optical illusion due to photo angle or is the seat really angled down? It generally is not kept that ways.
