Like Aryan said, to get proper moon shots, you have to go to 'full manual' mode.

I love taking moon shots with my 70-300IS, and have even done a few with my Sigma 18-200 OS.

The settings for moon shots would vary with the current phase of the moon. My general starting settings on a nice clear sky are something like this..

Full Moon : 1/320, f/8, ISO 100

Half Moon : 1/160, f/8, ISO 100

Crescent Moon : 1/100, f/8, ISO 200

From here, you can adjust as per the exposure you get..

Personally, I've got the best results while hand holding with IS on with manual focus.

Also, you get better results when the moon is straight above you. Its brighter and there's less atmosphere between the moon and the camera.

Lonely in a Crowd

^^^ Amazing stuff ! how did u make him(i guess its u) stand out ??

my guess is that this is a heavily post processes image, with most of the faces given the motion blur filter in PS and the few left alone to pop out as the lonely ones.

though looking closer some parts of the pic seem to be a collage rather than a single image.

I am in the "trial" period of real macro photography and I am loving the whole trial and error thingy.. Here are a couple of latest shots, clicked this evening.. Sorry for the noise, it's probably because the picture has been compressed heavily (and partly because of the ISO settings)..

Picture - 1: The nib of my Reynolds.. Shot at ISO1600 at an aperture of f11, hand held, very low light conditions.

I went to visit the International Expo that was going on here. It was a Sunday and also the concluding day of the Expo... and there were people, people & people everywhere... I was taken in awe with the number of people there... i was carrying my old panasonic FZ5, and climbed up on a wall to capture this unending sea of heads.. There must have been more than 10k people there... and everyone seemed busy and in their own world.. then my eyes fell on this man in the orange shirt... he was just standing there and observing me.. he looked all lost and lonely in the moving sea of heads.. he was the only person standing still and watching me... like he had nothing to do...nowhere to go... I wanted to capture his loneliness..

I dropped the ISO to 80, and aperture to f/4... this got me a shutter speed of 1/2 second...this seemed slow enought to blur the moving people and yet keep him sharp...

I took 2-3 shots and this came out the best...


As explained above, this is a single image shot with my FZ5 at 1/2s, f/4, IS 80. The only PP is crop, levels, curves and boarder.

Nice shot there , We can see the loneliness in that mans face the Orange shirt which you where aiming at , which intern justifies your shot . Good work Have to learn a lot from you all . I am also trying hard to get some shots out of my panasonic Lumix FZ 28 . Learning still

i think u need the raynox.do one thing..for test take from sunny and have a go..
