    • Aha! Just got the Nikon D2H in my hands along with the 70-200 f/2.8VR, and a tamron 28-75 f/2.8. Too bad the charger's not with me, so all I have is a charge full of heaven.

        • I just pulled out the 70-200 f/2.8 out of its casing and it turns out it's a Sigma APO HSM not a NIkon VR. Oh well, its built like a tank anyway.

          Cockfist: Thanks man.

Hey good job there. I checked the link out. I saw Brian Schneider and Manas Karekar written on the photographs. I enjoyed all of your photographs posted here, barring the 5th and the last ones. Great to see you working thus. Keep going.

Couple of photos from Flickr account:

The first one was taken at Old Delhi, near Fatehpuri, during the summer months, I was looking to do a subject on inflation and entitled it thus:

                Inflation

The second one is from my travails in Rajasthan. This one is from Jaisalmer.

                  • @ powerslave: First of all, great work mate!

Indoor basketball is one of the toughest sports to shoot. Its 'in-your-face', unpredictable and plagued by lack of light. The most widely used lenses here are the 85 1.8 and the 135 2.0, and considering you only had the 70-200 2.8, and your XTi, you did great

I would suggest you try the following tips next time... this may be of a little help..

-Use the Ai Servo with continuous shots mode and designate AF duties to the * button via custom functions. This way, you keep your thumb on the * button for AF and press the shutter with the finger for shooting.. this way, the AF and shutter are independent of each other and much less focus hunting when at the extreme end of the zoom. You'll definitely get much better AF accuracy.

-There should be no need to go above 1/500.. a little bit of motion blur in the hands and fingers is in fact a good thing... gives you a sense of motion...

-Keep one eye to the viewfinder and keep the other eye open too. You'll be able to anticipate action much better.

-Try shooting at a wider FL and don't worry on composition.. crop later during PP

-Use the 30D over your XTi... it has a cleaner ISO 1600 and much more responsive AF system... also it will provide a much better grip and balance with the big lens on.

                    best of luck...

I was using AF-Servo last game too, and I have been practicing the AF throuhg the * button and it's awesome. The D2H has another trick though, it has two servo modes: Nikon D2H Review: 8. Operation & Controls: Digital Photography Review

Yep, 1/500 should be good enough.

I hate shooting with my lenses on , I use the diopter adjustment to compensate for my eye correction.

-Try shooting at a wider FL and don't worry on composition.. crop later during PP
That problem will be taken care of this time, I have the 28-75 with me. Last time I found taking shots of baskets being scored along with the respective player because of the 70-200 FL.
                              best of luck...
                              Thanks

                              • Hve taken some shots on my Kutch trip. Have some from Razors camera for now.

Have increased the contrast of the photos in PS. Is it advisable to do so or does it affect the quality. The originals were in jpeg & not RAW images.

I would also like some comments on the watermark logo & itz placement & on the shots tooo.
