it is a decent camera, in design a big bro to the 700
with the full frame 35mm sensor and 24 megapixels, the details that it can capture are huge. However, the sensor is very noisy higher up the ISO range, and as per Sony's general policy of heavy handed noise reduction, the details are totally smeared in JPGs. The RAWs retain more details, but are one-to-one noisier than the canons 21.1meg sensor of the 1DsIII and the upcoming 5DII. One awesome plus of the cam is that its dynamic range is really good in JPG mode even.
also, such a dense sensor requires good lenses, and unfortunately, all the good carl zeiss lenses that sony has are expensive than (hel)L even. *L being canon's luxury series lenses - one of the best ones on the planet.
the review has been up at dpreview for a while i believe. ah yes, here it is: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sonydslra900/
