Good choice bro ... It's great VFM and a true performer...

        5.4 is the focal length,

2.8 is the Maximum aperture, which affects light & noise.

        AF means Autofocus.

5 Megapixels means your images come out in 2592x1944 pixels, which if you multiply comes out to be about 5 Million Pixels ... It tells the level of details in your photo, and ability to digital zoom.

                    • Which Camera?

One of my friend is planning on buying a new SLR cam, he's narrowed it down to a Nikon D60 X, Nikon D40 X, Canon EOS 1000D or a Canon EOS Rebel XSI on a budget Rs. 30,000/- Any suggestions? He's a beginner so it would be real helpful, if you guys could point out the necessary features to look out for some one who's starting photography
