A few days back, I noticed that the EPS of my old (Cross) helmet had started to come off. It meant that the life of the helmet was over and I knew that I needed to upgrade to a new helmet ASAP. Hence, started the search for a new helmet. After taking some advice from my friend, Soul_HunterMT Matrix Track Spirit Vs HJC CL-17

MT Matrix Track Spirit

Pros:
1. Costs ₹ 400 less than the HJC CL-17.
2. Spare Parts would be available more easily and will be considerably cheaper than HJC.
3. Lightweight (Only 1350 grams).
4. Comes with chin curtains as standard.
5. Air Pump Equipped for a better fit.
6. Good Visibility.
7. 2 Years of warranty.

Cons:HJC CL-17

Pros: Cons:, could you please look into the same and inform us about the availability of the visor?

Picked up this helmet for the wife in November. Pretty impressed with quality, its definitely lighter than my AGV K3 which the precise reason why I picked it up for her.

Having worn it for two weeks over a 3500km trip, she had no complaints from the helmet whatsoever. Not much fatigue thanks to the light weight.

We did have one wee bit of a problem which was water seeping from the top of the visor in heavy rain. Doesn\'t look like the rubber lining seals completely even after the visor lock is put.

On the contrary my Sena headset just fit right in without a hitch. There is proper spacing available for placing the speaker. The only issue I faced was that for some reason the base plate of the Sena did not sit tightly on the side of the helmet not matter how much I tightened the screws.

Nice to know that the helmet is comfortable over long rides! And did you find out any solution for the water leakage issue? Water leakage issue does not sound cool.

I was thinking about the water leakage issue with your Matrix and I guess there might be a solution to it. How about sticking a thin line of Foam tape to the upper side of the visor from where the water leaks inside the helmet? That foam tape would help to stop the water from leaking through that gap in your rubber lining seal. Also, foam tape is cheap and is easily available in almost every hardware shop.

Then the visor would not close completely.

Even I got the same today in green. Your review was last thing I needed to read before I bought it. In other words last nail in the coffin.
Was using LS2 earlier and this is way better, I was also confused between cl-17 and this but have a tour coming up soon, hjc wasnt available so got this.
Unlike other helmets it is more suited to upright naked bike stance, the noise increases with an aggressive position instead of reducing as you expect to.

Its nice to know that my review is doing its job of helping people with their decision! And yes, you\'re right about the riding stance. Getting into aggressive stance does make the wind noise considerably louder. But as I said in my review, I used to own a Cross helmet before and the MT is better by leaps and bounds as compared to my old helmet. Still, I\'ll buying Ear Plugs since I\'ve read that ear plugs always are better to ride with!

Update 1:

I used the helmet in my city and here are a few observations based on the same:

The helmet feels super light on my head and my neck doesn\\\'t pain anymore like it did before when I used a Cross helmet.

While using the helmet with Removable Chin Curtain ON:
1. The visor tends to fog up quickly with every breath and the fog doesn\\\'t go away until and unless the visor is opened. Also, opening the chin vent doesn\\\'t help with the fog.(This is a problem you\\\'ll face only when riding at lower speeds.)
2. It feels suffocated inside the helmet when riding in the city. This won\\\'t be a problem when you\\\'re cruising above speeds of 60km/hr but it surely can be a problem in bumper to bumper traffic.

While using the helmet after removing the Removable Chin Curtain:
1. The visor doesn\\\'t fog up and it doesn\\\'t feel suffocated inside the helmet while riding at lower speeds.
2. There is a very slight whistle inside the helmet after around 65km/hr (Surely bearable). All air vents were open while I was using the helmet.
3. I tried running my motorcycle to speeds of 90-100 km/hr (it was late night on a long straight patch of road). I noticed that the wind noise was more as compared to the helmet with chin curtain on it (I tried doing the same patch of road back to back with and without the removable chin curtain and hence the observation). The wind noise was loud enough that it could affect the user\\\'s hearing capabilities after riding for long distances. (Surely though, that problem can be tackled by putting on the removable chin curtain and by using ear plugs.)

So if you\\\'re riding in the city then use the helmet after removing the chin curtain and you\\\'ll feel a lot better. Other than these small problems the helmet is great for commuting.

I\\\'l further update my experience with the Matrix when I use it for a ride to Lavasa and Lonavala.

Been using the helmet for past couple of days in city
The helmet is really light
Wind noise is significantly less compared to my previous helmet(LS2)

Helmet feels a bit cramped and i feel i have a bit of breathing difficulty, when standstill and visor closed.
This may also be because I m not used to a proper snug fit helmet.

I might be asking a stupid question but did you try using the helmet without the removable chin curtain? Because when I used the helmet with the chin curtain in the city, even I had a similar problem but after removing the chin curtain the problem was no more.

Using without the chin curtain only all this while, the chin curtain is still in my jacket, will use it today and tmrw on a long highway ride.
