I have heard that sas-tec armors tend to become extremely hard and brittle to some extent in cold temperatures. Is it true ?
Because if they do, then in that case it will feel a lot uncomfortable when riding in colder terrains.

A friend based in delhi was telling me about this. He did not have this particular jacket. I think he was using the Scorpion Jacket. At cold temperatures, the armors were behaving like acrylic sheets. He said he was too scared to twist them as he feared it might break

For the benefit to everyone, I'll share my experience. I bought this roughly an year ago. I use it for commuting as well as touring. While the shoulders fit fine but the elbows are loose. I am 5'7 and 70kgs. I have used in it different weather conditions in Bangalore. The armor is holding up, however the main zipper gave up about a month ago. Got a new zipper (no its not YKK) fixed from a local bag repair shop. Now the outer rain liner is of zero use, got wet in Bangalore rains within 10mins of wearing it. I use a rain coat upon the jacket to protect myself from rain. Although it's a mesh kinda jacket, during sunny days I did feel the heat inside. It holds up the wind fairly well. One thing I miss, from a protection standpoint, is the chest protectors. DSG Nero has it inbuilt (I have used Nero for almost two years and the only complaint I have with it is the main zipper, it gave up too).

I continue to use the TrackBreed ADV jacket. And planning to pick a Dainese textile jacket in next few months.

I am sorry, I haven't taken a pics of the jacket, hence can't share them here. Any questions related to the jacket itself are welcome!!

I have zero experience with AStart riding jackets, hence my input will be very limited to no use to you. But I'll try - the only advantage is cost, the ADV jacket cost INR 8k. Online price of Astar air fender is 12-13k and alux is close to 18k. So, essentially the ADV will be lighter on the wallet. Another point to note is that ADV isn't water proof, hence you may need to spend up to 2k to get Duckback rain gear (according to me its the best rain gear available in the city). So the total spend is 10k. You will still save up to 3k when compared to the air fender and upto 8k when compared to alux. You may invest in other riding gears or get some TLC done to your beloved with additional money in hand.
I suggest you trial wear both ADV and Astar to make the decision. Buying a riding jacket is a very personal thing IMHO.

Not entirely.

While the ADV isn't rain-proof in the traditional sense (because it doesn't have an internal rain liner), it does come with an external rain cover. I think that is better than an internal rain-liner, because when the rains stop, you aren't left with a jacket that is heavier due to the water it has absorbed. I understand it's a subjective opinion, but it's something worth mentioning

I have read somewhere that the external rain cover is translucent, and the reflective strips are visible through it. So, there should be no problem wearing it at night too.

I do not own an ADV Breed as of yet, but I have zeroed in on it and waiting for stocks to arrive.

Let me share my experience with inner rain liner as well as the outer one on the ADV jacket -
Inner liner - Spartan Rain liner. It fits the ADV jacket without any problems. Kept me bone dry for almost 200kms, was returning from Hubli to Bangalore. Yes it covers the upper torso only, hence the lower part of the body is vulnerable to rain. Since its a inner liner no issues with the reflective stripes.
Outer liner - the one which comes with the ADV jacket did not serve the purpose for me. I bought the jacket from Sapna's store and got out, it started pouring. My work place is roughly 10mins ride from Lets Gear Up and by the time I reached work not only was the liner wet but the jacket was also soaking in rain water.
I agree that after a rain ride the jacket will become heavier since it is soaked in rain water. But I'd like point out that the inner liner kept me dry, while the outer liner got wet and made me shiver wearing the jacket.
I am unsure about the translucent part, since I have the jacket and the liner, will try it out and share the results here.

You mentioned about the vulnerability of the adv breed jacket in the rain. Also, good to read that you posted a review after using it for almost a year.
My question is, how well/bad will it perform on the dry days when pitched against similarly priced jackets from Spartan, rynox, rjays etc? Just for a tad bit more the adv provides level 2sastec armours, added benefit, yea???? Also, w.r.t the fit and finish after regular use for one year, apart from the zippers, anything else to report?

I want to give the ADV a try but they have no store herein Mumbai [emoji14]. I will give the others a try though. If this jacket can't stand Bangalore rains then Mumbai rains will definitely seep in easy. Thanks for the input

Karan - other than the zipper issue, I haven't faced any problems with ADV jacket.
Other riding jackets I have used in the past is cramster, Spartan and DSG Nero. Usage of Spartan was very limited, since I met with an accident the day I bought it. The jacket did its job but it was a mess after the accident. The LHS of the jacket was completely torn and was beyond repair. Cramster, well what can I say, it was my first jacket. Since, it was the first one I used it for touring only. But on a fateful night, I kissed the road again the riding gear took the blunt of the crash and I walked away with some bruises. End of Cramster story. In came the Nero, all black, fit and finish is neat. Used it regularly, it did save me when I got into another accident, not a scratch on me but the jacket took a little beating and that's what it meant for, right? Had no problem with it, until the zipper gave up. Then switched to ADV. Protection wise it is good, nice big back protection, shoulders protectors too fit nice. The out layer of the shoulders is made to look like the moto gp stuff. The elbow protectors are good, they have sastech armor as well as a thin layer of cushion padding. I am yet to kiss the road with this jacket . This jacket is a combination of mesh and textile, it feels good to wear every time I take the bike out.
On a dry day with pleasant weather it makes me sweat inside, especially in city riding conditions but on the highway its different, the mesh does its job of keeping the air flow consistent.
One thing to note is that the weight of the jacket, although it isn't felt much when riding but walking around with it on will make you sweat. There is only one colour available - Black.

The jacket I use is a XL. I bought one size bigger since I had to wear it on formals, taking into account comfort factor. Size Large would have been perfect fit, in fact skin fit. And I don't like skin fit clothing. The ADV jacket sizing is different from Spartan, DSG and Cramster. I used a M size Spartan and S size Cramster and DSG. Going by your shirt size I think either the L or XL ADV should best fit you.

Bro ,that was one detailed explanation.. I dunno how lucky you feel, but I feel lucky enough to have read post from a person who has survived multiple crashes! Well, just as the other guy, sizing is the main issue as I am not a bangalorian either. Need to figure something out, drive down to bangalore perhaps if it's worth as it seems on paper!

Riding down is an option but there other options too to resolve the sizing issue.
1) what is your shirt size (formal shirt only)
2) do you sometimes wear a jacket upon the formal shirt
3) what is size of that jacket, that you use
4) now visualize you have all the armor in the same jacket
5) wear the jacket again and tell yourself how you feel
6) is it snug fit, do you need some air flow, then one size above the jacket is what you may need
7) let's say you are wearing a M size jacket, the ADV should be L
8 ) now there is a catch to all of the above, when I bought the jacket, the sizing was different. I am not sure if they have changed it in last 12 months

I have read that it is a bad idea to get a jacket that is not a snug fit; the argument is that in case of a crash, the armors will slide, and you will be left with little to no protection.

I messaged them on Facebook about the sizing. It looks like the sizing will be the same as your regular shirt. I wear a 42" shirt, and I was told to get a L-size jacket. Don't take my word for it, though. Contact them.
