This is my first review in this forum, so excuse me for any mistakes.
To be frank I don't use much of riding gear except helmet, for a simple reason is that the place I am from doesn't have shops selling good riding gear and helmets.
Anyways that was a long time ago till E commerce websites came into existence and saved the day for me, so I decide to buy an rc390 and was looking for a good lid and from a reputed website and reputed brand.
My major requirement was low outside noise and good high speed aerodynamics. I did my research and found out that currently in trend with a budget of Rs. 4000 these where the available helmets:
1. MT axis
2. LS2
3. SOL
These are some of the well-known brands that where available on popular websites such as Spartan gear and planetdsg, to be frank I don't have problem trusting these websites and take a leap of faith but my problem was shipping and if it is not what I want then the returns policy.
There were not much Helmets available online on other e-commerce websites, I was searching for a Vega axxor, it was out of stock too, and then I saw this helmet by KYT(It is a sub brand of much better known SUOMY) at amazon website being sold by planet dsg and the helmet was a KYT RC7 Samurai Full Face Helmet (White and Gunmetal), there was another model too of KYT called KYT Alpha Venom Motocross Helmet, but it was out of my budget.
Some details about the helmet:
1. KYT Helmet interior anatomically designed painted and UV-coated outer shell. Polycarbonate outer shell tool-less quick release visor and Scratch resistant treatment on visor, Wind tunnel tested inner liner with high transpiring netting inserts
2. Removable and washable interior comfort liner. Removable and washable cheek pads.
3. Sanitized hygienic treatment for inner fabrics.
4. Adjustable upper air vents for cooling and comfort.
5. Chin guard air intake for cooling and comfort.
6. Rear exhaust vents padded chin strap with D-ring closure and strap keeper.
7. Protective helmet shoulder bag included. Certification ECER 22 -05 approved.
There were a few comments on the Amazon website and virtually no proper review online for this helmet, then after searching found a video on YouTube by a up loader called ridewithrahul, he gave a pretty good and detailed review, But said the padding was very thin.
After two weeks of thinking what to do, decided to order the KYT, as I had no other option and LS2 fakes available so can't take risk, MT axis no eCommerce website had it, SOL same as MT axis. I thought if I don't like the KYT I can always return it.
After 1 week waiting it was delivered to me in good and safe packaging (I have ordered above 50000 worth of merchandise on Amazon and still continue to order as I trust it).
So here are the pictures:
After around 4 days of just looking at it (I was not satisfied by the way it looked) when I compared it to my Vega Off-Road the color was not up to the mark and the design looked confusing.
My brother asked me he wanted my vega as I have bought a new lid, I gave it to him and finally took the KYT out of the box and on to the road.
So here is my take on KYT RC7 Samurai:
1. Wind noise is literally Zero, I had done a speed run of 120kmph and there was no whistling or any drama, as the speed built up it got quieter and this was done with all the vents open for a good distance.
2. Comfort, It is a snug fit and has no gaps to wear sunglasses inside or even earphones..!!! But it’s comfortable and doesn't make you feel stuffy.
* Weight of the helmet is considerably high, I mean its heavy but once you wear it, you will forget.
3. Size, when I ordered a Vega I got the XL and it had a good fit, I ordered the KYT in size L and was afraid it won't fit, but this one was much better than my vega, I have a 60cm head and vega was 60 - 62 and KYT is 59 - 60.
4. Aerodynamics, It was planted and didn't throw my head around at high speeds and I didn’t even crouch at triple digit speed.
5. Buying experience, it was packed well and came with a nice shoulder bag, and for a price of Rs. 2750 it’s just awesome.
The only bad about the helmet, will be its buckle or whatever it is called, I still haven't been able to figure out how it works.
Finally to summarize everything, don't go by the online reviews and comments that include mine.
I had a vega off-road helmet and in the comments on the website I bought it from, mentioned that the visor blocks the vision when completely raised (it doesn't go completely up), When I bought it, it took some time but the visor goes up and you do have a clear vision.
And people in the online world have complained that the padding of this KYT helmet is poor, but it’s not and it fits perfectly and is pretty snug and comfortable.
PS: By the time I completed this review I was able to figure out the D-ring buckle.
PSS: I am not advertising for Amazon here and I do buy from other websites too.
PSSS: Now I am on the hunt for gloves(bought a Vega full leather just for trial run and its just okayish) and Jacket, All this will be bought only at physical store because of fitment issue.

, it's hard but feels solid and safe.
