Hyosung SVC will be using Castrol Power 1 SAE 10W50, what I heard is that the performance is slightly better than Motul 7100 Fully synthetic.
Haven't took it for a long ride after servicing to check the performance. You can also try for Double ester fully synthetic oils if you rip the bike like a racer with high rpm.

got my 2nd service coming up, should i stick with the oil that the SVC uses or should I get my own, I do quite a bit of city riding and the usual every sun ride..

I fixed 2 55w h1 and h3 on the GT650R of some customer.

Good Spread and Better than stock , No battery drains nothing at all.

Also Long term HID effect--almost 4 yr old R15 , with 3.5A battery , Im running 2 35 W Hid's from 50k kms :-)STill on stock battery.. Got the Juice left ..

I understand your concern on the RR unit and electricals of the GT's.Just need to use it smartly.

As long as the person doing the mod knows exactly what they are doing, there's absolutely no harm done. Infact the stock H1 lamps on the GTR is a 55w. I was never a big fan of the stock headlight intensity or throw of the GT.

I was going to install a Truss 6000k kit with slim ballast, but backed out. The only downside of HID is the high initial draw compared to the OEM lamps. Although, this will surely not cause any short term issues, i was afraid it may reduce the battery life over a period of time. Given that the electrical component quality of Hyosung is no better than the infamous Ducati - didn't want to void my warranty.

My above query regarding light mods were because, if the wires are exposed, improperly insulated, etc due to a botched up mod-job, then may potentially cause a leak which could explain why the battery discharges within 48hrs from full charge.

With a 55 W HID on My GTN , I still dont face any battery drain or charging problems.
LEave it unused for a week or two and Cranks up Just fine.

Sigh.. The SVC appears to be troubleshooting your GT on a trial/error basis.

If you flip back a few pages, you should be able to find a post from men_in_jean as well as myself about this problem. We've both faced the same issue which was eventually fixed by replacing the RR unit. The charge retention of the battery is well over a month, since thats the longest i've gone without riding.

Here are some suggestions for you,
1. After you get the battery replaced, Ride for 50 - 60kms which should provide ample activity for the new battery unit.
2. Return the bike back to SVC and ask them to take multimeter readings every half a day or so (make sure it indicates 14.08v).
3. Let the SVC hold on to your GT for two days and ensure there's no sudden discharge.
4. Before taking delivery (after the 2 day period), ask the SVC person to show you the MM reading once again.

Did you make any electrical mods to the GT? (Lights, horn, HUD, etc) If yes, it may be a possible leak. If the RR unit is providing charge for the battery and after replacing both, still the battery discharges in two days - it is time to perform a complete wiring check of your GT and start looking for possible leaks.

hello guys bought GT in November 2011.i am facing a big problem with battery,if i don't ride bike for more than 2 days my bikes battery completely drains out,i informed the service center guy he told me there is a problem with RR unit,he replaced that unit even though i am facing same problem,now he is replacing the battery.my question is draining of battery within 2 to 3 days if a common thing or the battery is problematic.and how long can battery hold the power without any ride.please help

Got the bike after the second service, added Motul 7100 fully synthetic 10W40 engine oil.... Bike runs amazingly smooth also gear shifting has become easy. Need to take for a long ride to test the performance.

though i am not an gt owner i read the issue faced by mr.melroy and the loss of life of the mechanic. first of all in this case the owner has to do with nothing, mr.melroy was not wrong did nothing wrong. secondly, the guy who blamed mr.melroy is probably immature or was trying to SHIFT the blame on someone as he knew he would be answerable and get caught in all that incident. but the most important thing missing here is that when ANY company who is selling such higher capacity bikes needs to have a good staff with enough knowledge about the product that they are selling, proper training should be given before the product launch for all the guys in all the branches where ever it is located. mechanics should be highly trained how to handle such machines as for these are NOT zmr's or splendors for god's sake. each and every person who is working at such companies should know and understand that its the first time in our country such bikes are making an entry on a mass ground. even the customer must be made aware of what he is buying and what lessons are necessary to handle such machines.(personally i think we should have proper schools for giving sbk lessons as nowadays its easy own a sbk than before for a common man). i own an r15, here in pune in monarch yamaha, tilak road i get excellent service everytime not disappointed in two years even once. the service center does jobs of r1's as well i have seen the workshop inside out, clean, all genuine products being used for all the bikes, why recently only two days ago i went to my regular mechanic i saw only motul being used or wruth for all the bikes for chain lubing. the guys here get training each and everytime a new product is launched. this shows at what extent yamaha is taking its care and the customers too. after every service the next day we receive a call to gather the feedback on the service done and if not satisfied its rectified the very same day, now that's service. any company selling a premium product should understand and provide premium service too. alas, spiderman's grandfather was right with great power comes great responsibility. (i use nissin pads which come oem in yamaha they lasted for 15478kms for me)
