Hey Nicky,Originally posted by nicky_cool_dude_2004 View PostCongrats on your ninja. I'm contemplating to purchase of the 650 soon. I'd like to know what are the security measures which you can take. I stay in a society, where people are interested more in whats happening in my house rather then theirs, so i'd like to take some security measures for the new bike. Any alarm system that will avoid unnecessary fidgeting with the bike or anything of these sorts. Thanks in advance.
Like Sachin mentioned, i have the gorilla 8017 installed in the bike. Comes with a shock sensor, which gives a warn away beep when someone touches the bike, it someone bumps into it, it sets off an alarm for 30 secs. It also comes with a tilt sensor, so if someone take the bike of the side stand the alarm goes off.
Fairly easy to install, typical plug and play. i took more time figuring out where to install the components, than in the actual installation.
Shipped it directly from Amazon, US. It was delivered to my door step.
It comes with a small lcd screen enabled remote. so when within range it alerts you what alarm has been activated. Range in open areas is about 100mts, but within buildings, it falls to 20-30mts at best.
Total cost was 194$approx with shipping and customs. Downside, its very sensitive, even at the lowest sensitivity setting. This was much to the amusement of some xbhp members who revved their R15 with free flow exhaust 5 meters from the N650 and set off the alarm. I am fairly happy with it. i have witnessed it keep those unwanted inquisitive touching/feeling the bike kinda guys at bay. But with kids its another story, after the initial shock, its more of a novelty, which dies away after a week, so expect kids to touch the bike on purpose to set the alarm off. What can i say... cheap thrills... but that we have all been through that stage.
The other option is a Xena disc lock with inbuilt alarm(other manufacturers have their version of it as well, but xena is commonly used). locks the front disc and if someone tabs or bumps into the bike it sets off the alarm. There are a whole variety of them available online.
Lemme know if u need any info.

Hi, Gorilla 8017 & Xena Disc Alarm are the best to buy. Few of the N650 owners have put them on their bikes and it works like a charm. You might like to check it out. I think Zimbly (Xbhp id) has installed it on his N650 so you can check with him on his experience about the security alarm.Originally posted by nicky_cool_dude_2004 View PostCongrats on your ninja. So close yet so far
Today, KTM Vashi dealer was suppose to register my N650 however the job was not done today. Tomorrow, I have to submit him original LIC document and original address proof again so that he can proceed with registration passing of my vehicle.
Hopefully, by Wednesday, I would bring home the green beauty.

Guest repliedHi UrbanNomad . i guess if u want LHS and RHS then u need a rear seat cowl ...(pic attached). drill 4 holes exactly 1 inch above the already existing holes.fabricate 2 brackets (length wise and weld then together with 2 cross member to be fixed inside the cowl) weld 4 nuts inside the bracket aligned with the drilled holes. . now make sure the saree guard on both side are straight and not curved.now fix 4 , 2 on each saree guard bolts aligned with the driller holes on the cowl. fix it and take a tour. when not required unscrew them...hope this helps...if not then ill make some diagrams and upload,

Looking for LHS n RHS. Was worried about the attachment part (where the part will attach to the tail) so sticking with the saree guard. Have managed to get 2 saree guards, plan to use on the RHS by inverting (!!). Gonna have ro experiment a bit before i get it right i guess.Originally posted by Barkha View PostUrbanNomad ..Hi....are yo looking to for only LHS or a LHS and RHS saddle bag carriers?....i can suggest u get new ones made with alluminium by a local fabricator instead of making it out of the iron one..it will be lighter and wont rust.
