metzzler sportec m5 is available easily. however its a low mileage single compound tyre meant for tracks. hardly lasts beyond 8000kms and at 13k for rear its expensive. also the stock available is probably more than 1-1.5 yr old. having said that, its grip and feel is really great.Originally posted by forty6 View PostHi, anyone who has changed their tyres and would like to share their experience? for longer mileage, roadtec is their dual compound tyre but its hardly available in ninja sizes. also the stock available could be dated as back as 2009!
since michelin and others are available, its no point discussion about stock tyres (they cost same as michelins n others). Would like to point out that bridgestone battalax was really good tyre for touring usage. I would avoid recommending dunlop OEM as many have reported steering wobble with it and for the price its available from bajaj, its not worth.
i have just started using PR2, its 180 but fits well, no issue with chain or swingarm. lets see how it goes. havent used others

There are no issues which 180 section has. As i said i just did a 7500 kms trip on them across all types of terrains and I had no issues. Got 27.2 kmpl mileage and no issues in top speed, cornering, wet roads, gravel, no roads, etc.Originally posted by forty6 View PostThanks a ton man. You can buy angel st / gt if you are okay paying the extra moolah. Else pr2 is equally good.
I cant comment on diablo. Never used them.

Thanks a ton man. I have just been reading that the 180 doesn't fit very well. So was apprehensive. So, you recommend PR2 over the Angel ST? Also, how are diablo rossos? If PR2s are good I would gladly go for them, the dealer is closer to home and they are cheaper.

Pirelli Angel st was an exceptional tire but its expensive.
Michelin pr2 I recently did an entire bhutan trip (7500 kms) which has 180 section. No issues whatsoever. No drop in mileage and looks better too with a more round profile. My main reason to switch was the cost of michelin pr2 is way cheaper than pirelli angel st.

I don't know why peeps are going on about it being uncomfortable. I rode from Kasol to Gurgaon. Through some of the biggest craters known to Mangalyaan and I wasn't really dead tired by the time i reached home 13 hours later. Of course bum pains but out of all the bikes I have owned and ridden on that was the most comfortable I have been on.
Ok enough of me forcing my opinion on this, just a little question, does any of you feel that the front locks up a little too frequently in case of panic braking on this bike. I was wondering whether anybody else also felt it or is it just me. I mean it has been almost one and a half years now, just haven't become comfortable with brakes. Any enlightenment is welcome.

I too believe pillion riding is comparatively better. G forces and all come in to picture when you accelerate hard. Don't accelerate hard, corner hard etc with a pillion.
As I said before, IMO comfort is better than even bullets, having done 250 kms on both back to back as a pillion.
And yeah the exhaust will scrape easily with a slightly heavy partner.

If N650 is not pillion friendly then there's no bike. May be after market gel seats can help but stock seat itself is so good. Give it some time....you'll get used to and the seats will break in.

Are you using Nitrogen ? If not please switch over to Nitrogen, makes a big big difference in the ride quality. I normally set it to 36 at the back and 32 at the front. It rides much better with those settings. Also I got a gelpad mod done on my bike a few months back, the gelpad absorbs a lot of the heat. I tried it for 200 kms with a friend and decided never to do it again, not at all comfortable for both. But I think you get used to it. In the last two rides, one involving over 17 and another over 15 hours of riding I was relatively comfortable. Dinner and lunch breaks were enough to relieve any pain.
The pain is due to sweat and the resulting rashes. Cotton boxer shorts help a lot. I am also planning to buy padded cycling shorts, that I believe will completely solve the problem.
Even with my karizma, initially I felt lot of pain but later for used. Full day rides were no problem at all..
Better that any other bike I have experienced, including the bullets. Just that if the pillion is a little heavy, he/she tends to slide forward during breaking. A cotton cloth on the seat solves the problem.
