Re: Ninja 650R - Ownership Thread
Hi Guys!! Sorry didnt see a separate ownership thread for Ninja 650, unless we have the same thread for both 650 & 650R. I finally moved on from my beloved Ninja 300 to 2015 model Ninja 650. I have done 1400 KMs in last 15 days of ownership and I have noticed a peculiar pattern. Hope owners can help in addressing it.
A line about the way I use my bike, I use it for literally everything, commute, tour, buying milk, going for a hair cut, dropping wife to office, dropping kid to shool. She goes every where. Never liked the idea of having multiple bikes for multiple purposes. However, coming back to the point.
Say I'm cruising at 30 kmph in 1st gear at around 3000 rpm and I slow down and let off the throttle.
Now when I need to get back on the throttle, no matter how gently I feather the throttle, there will be a really bad jerk/lurch. I've tried adjusting lots of stuff (chain tension, throttle freeplay, clutch play, idling etc.) and nothing fixes it. The only way to smoothly accelerate out of this is to feather the clutch which I do when I have a passenger.
I also had a Ninja 300 and it did not do this. It was super smooth in all RPM range as compared to the 650. So while I can't say for certain, I doubt it's due my ability to smoothly control the throttle.
Now I wonder either (1) this is inherent to this bike due to the high low end torque or just engine design, or (2) perhaps it's a mapping issue. I'd assume that a PCV with a different mapping can fix (2).
PCV does it improve/fix this?
Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

Even bonkers, would be installing projector head lamps with green LED rings!!

Those green accented shocks also looks a bit weird, but not that bad i think.
