also why would they give one side of the grab rail and expect us to buy the left one?! It's like buying shoes they give you the right one and say we are including the box to protect the shoes but please buy the left one as an accessory!

Also when my friend picked up the GT650R there was no saree guard on that, so why the vertical luggage rack on this?
Difference in the way the companies in question operate would be my guess. That's why you can't compare a Hyosung to a Kawasaki IMO.

Having been at the receiving end of the RTO recently, I can't say I blame Kawasaki - I'm sure that they have the same pained expression on their faces dealing with the Indian bureaucracy that we do......

      • saw it, touched it, felt it, sat on it. Delivery tomorrow but with engineer visit. alas...
can u believe that they have put a HUGE saree guard on this beast.....the bike looked yuck.. i felt like taking back all my money. i gave them special instructions that i do not want to see that damn thing when i return tomorrow for taking the baby for good.....

cant wait.... counting down the hours which feel like days to finally own the beauty...

although it felt really good as the number plate on it has a sticker saying SOLD....would have felt so much better with my name on it....though....
        heres to tomorrow.....come soon...

same question here..saw the Hyosung bikes none of them have saree guard and how come this relaxation for that bike ??

but truly speaking ..the saree guard on that Ninja 650 looks like Milk man carrier .
and what the hell with that need to buy separately the grab rail of that side, can't they even give that grab rail free for customer who purchase big bike like this ?? surely they tear customer atleast min of 5k for that.

you like it or not.. but for me .. the speedo meter initial check pattern looks something like sci-fi movie

Many would actually pay for the left grab rail separately and remove that hedious sari guard even before they take their first spin.

I would actually be interesed in finding out the cost of one side grab rail. May be 5k. Even couple of videos which i saw did not have sari guard but no one highlighted this.

The grab rail costs Rs.900/- as per PBK Chennai. You can always ask them to remove the saree guard - most of us 2011 650 owners have never seen the saree guards on our bikes either.

As for Hyosung, the reason is simple. Bajaj truly operates pan India and therefore have to follow the rules of the RTO's in every corner of the country. Hyosung is still very much counting dealers in a few cities. I was told of how an RTO in Cochin held the company to ransom refusing to register the N250R due to some whims and personal fancies, and the company was forced to register the vehicle elsewhere. The problem is not Bajaj-Kawasaki ; it lies in our archaic and obsolete rules that govern this country.

Rs.900 sounds good so its not a rip off.

I feel that any female sitting pillion on this bike wearing a saree would not be able to sit had the left grab rail been in place. That is why they have removed it and gave an option to the customer to decide whether they want to carry their wife, mother or elder female relatives as pillion.

Did not mention GF because I don't think any one of you would have a GF who wears saree

As a matter of fact the early 2011 GT's did come with the saree guard, Couple of months after the launch some of the regional dealers stopped fitting the guard prior to the delivery.

                          • This is my first post to this forum and hope i am able to add some value to the discussion.

Had a word with the Dehra Dun Probiking showroom manager Mr. Mayank Sharma. I dont know if it is okay to post mobile nos. on the forum. His number is available on the Baja Probikijng dealer locator page.

He says that bookings are open in Dun and the OTR price is 5.15L. Also, the company is giving bikes to agencies based on monthly allocations and so going forward we will have to wait for a maximum of a month once the booking is done.

Financing options range from 8.5% to 10.5% depending on the scheme on offer from Bajaj.
Other banks can be looked in to as well.

I am looking for a January 2013 purchase date...need to get my finances in order first. Mayank told me to send over the needed documents and booking amount 15 days in advance. Having done this he can have the bike registered with the Dun RTO and ready in a week.

Hope it helped prospective N650R buyers.

                              • Another view of the Sail aka saree guard

Here is another view if you have not already seen of the now famed saree guard...

Edit: I just saw some pics of the 2011 bike and the saree guard on that was almost the same size but was fit over the grabrail!
