It runs hot, on a long run I can feel the heat in my shins. I took a spin a couple of days back while wearing shorts and I could really feel that heat. This seems like a common issue based on reviews on the net. Need to get proper riding boots to counter this.

So these options did not make sense, not to mention the Bajaj backup and price advantage with the Ninja.

        now . . . . .
        I'M LOVIN' IT !!
        Congrats nirvanaguy19 on your N650R.
I have read reviews where bikers were not to happy with the sound of the stock exhaust. You can consider a aftermarket exhaust.
One suggestion, you can OFF the engine at traffic signals thus preventing further heat build up.

        Congrats bikefreak on your N650R.
A very good decision opting for the N650R considering the service backup and not to mention the lower price tag when compared to the other makes.

Touched 150 on my 650R this week. Its an absolute dream to handle even at that speed and has much more left to go. The wind force is a lot but having a decent helmet (Ls2) helps quite a bit.

Today is 3 weeks since i bought the kwacker. No major issues as such. Only one minor issue is that within the first 2 days of owning i could see some coolant leakage. Probiking mechanic came down to my house and fixed it the same day. Done about 650 kms so far. Hoping to wrap up 1000 by this weekend and get first service done.

Shifting to first gear is a bit tight but probking mechanic told me that it would ease post first service and/or with usage and over time.

Overall very positive experience so far and riding it has been a dream.

I own a Metal Blue N650R, 2007 Model. Have already clocked 20,000+ miles (bought it second hand at 3500 miles). I got it serviced from Kawasaki Service Station at around 10,000 miles otherwise i have always changed the oil myself which is pretty easy (search on google and you will find steps pic by pic).
Bike reached 210+ M/Hr pretty effortlessly (by then the odo needle is already close to the max reading). Even at 210+, it handles like a dream.

Have done 500+ miles in a single go effortlessly, seating and comfort is almost identical to my 1999 Hero Honda CBZ.

                  Good Points:
                  --------------
                  1. Good low end torque, so dont have to change gears freq while riding at low speeds.
                  2. Its a sports tourer, so pretty comfortable for long rides.
                  3. Decent economy, i used to get around 55 Miles/Gallon.
                  4. Take off the fairing and you will have altogether a different looking naked bike!
                  5. Good ground clearance and balance as compared to super sport bikes.

                  Bad Points:
                  -------------
                  1. Exhaust note is not music to the ears.
                  2. Engine heat takes its toll on the legs.
                  3. Once the fairing has been disassembled, there is always be a little buzz that never goes away :-/
                  4. Rear tyre is only 160, 180 could have been better!
                  5. Looks are not drop dead gorgeous.

                  * Never faced any issues with the bike except once the battery drained out (was lying in garage for 3-4 months).
                  * I am pretty aggressive rider and push the bike in every way possible but this babe has never complained.

Thats not a leak. The bike has an overflow pipe (see under the bike) that allows excess coolant to drain off. When the bike heats up, the coolant is pumped into the radiator to cool the engine. If the level of the coolant fluid is more than the higher level in the reservoir it would cause some coolant to drain away. This is normal and not an issue.

Your post suggests that you and the bike is in the US. Exhaust note can be improved by adding a Leo Vince pipe or similar. LV's sound awesome. Give it a hear

Of course. Bachoo motors is the authorized dealer/distributor for Leo Vince products in India (in addition to RJays).

Performance Racing Store is the India Dealer for Akrapovic, TwoBrothers Racing and lots more.

They are also approved partners on xBhp.

he he .. Yeah, i have a Two Brother Exhaust which does make the sound prettier but still not the best my ears have heard, on the contrary it becomes too loud (although there is noticeable power increase) so i had taken it off!

Most of the buyers for Kawasaki products prefer the brand name and the service from Bajaj PBK.
