    Re: Vespa LX125

    Hi Guys,

Is it good to buy Vespa in Chennai in 2017 with AHO and BS4 engine? How is the sales and service support in Chennai? I'm looking at the basic Vespa lx 125 and not sxl or vxl variants. Already we feel the base model is a lot of scooter money and it has only drum brakes

I want Vespa for city commutes with pillion, metal body, graceful aging and good resale value.

Other scooters in consideration are Activa 125, Access 125 (normal and special edition - almost full fibre and only 2 small metal parts; powerful engine and handling though) and Hero Duet (110 CC engine with metal body)

So, is it worth spending the extra amount for my requirements?

My dad likes Vespa brand since his childhood but he feels its just too costly for daily usage or basic requirements we have. Running on the maximum will be ~40 km in the city and even that, not daily.

    Thanks in advance.

There is another manual on Google which has 3 valves but that engine also looks different it has fi and the whole engine structure looks different. I don't want to screw the engine so i need an india spec model values of the valve clearence. If anyone by any chance has that then it would be really helpful. Thought so but just had to be sure.

I've landed on the same results as you in which for the 2V setup irrespective of displacement the clearances are at 0.10 and 0.15 and for the 3V setup its 0.08 for both intake and exhaust.

Coincidentally I had gone through a similar dilemma with my CT100B, finally a fellow xBhpian was able to get me a similar manual of a Kawasaki 4S from Scandinavia, all well after the settings though initially the use of 0.7 instead of 0.07 did get me confused, but a few seconds of running cleared all my doubts.

Sourced the Valve Clearances from a Senior enthusiast (hillram) from TeamBhp, he's got a couple of Piaggios under his belt.

Here are the valve clearance for Vespa : Inlet 0.10mm & Outlet 0.13mm
              Hope this info helps you.
              Best Wishes.

                  Re: Vespa LX125

I am facing a problem with my sister's Vespa LX125.

Amaron battery was draining a lot past few days. It drained so much, that Vespa refused to start using electric start. So, I told her to take it to Amaron dealer, as battery was still under warranty and they said, they need to check the battery and will give new battery in the evening same day, if there is any problem with old battery. She gave the old battery, and used the Vespa without battery for whole day. When she went back to Amaron dealer to get the new battery in the evening, but the smart battery installing person there, messed the terminal polarity and connected the wrong connection of battery with wrong leads. And installing the battery with wrong connection, while using self starting, Fuse got blown. After replacing the fuse and correcting the polarity terminals, sparks can be seen at battery terminals. After the wrong connections, Vespa refused to start even without battery. Amaron dealer tried to solved it, but failed. So, they were checked the wires for possible damages and found rodents have eaten/damaged insulation of lots of wires near the battery compartment. They said, looks like its shorting problem, wiring needed to checked, they cannot do anything with that. Pushed the Vespa to back home.

Today, went to a mechanic, nearby home, he refused to work on Vespa, he did not say why he is refusing.
So, I started to work on it myself.
Right now, things I know are:
                  1. While doing continuity check on positive and negative leads where battery is to be connected, with battery removed from vehicle, it shows shorted. Means somewhere positive leads are getting grounded.
                  2. I have tried to insulate as many as damaged wires I am able to find in the wires with insulation tape, but it still shows shorted with positive and negative terminals. But, there are places where I am not able to reach due to Body panels of the vehicle, but rodents could have easy access. Maybe that's why the mechanic said no.
                  3. Checked relay, it looks proper to me, as there is no insulation melting inside that box, when I opened it.

I am worried, that wrong terminals incident had damaged any important parts of vehicle, as vehicle is not starting even without battery.
I don't have anyone with me, so I cannot push it/pull it to ASC, which is really far from my home.

Any tips would be helpful, while I am looking for the more damaged insulation.
