Hi everyone, I am planning to purchase a new ninja 300 but I heard the spares and services will be costly. Just wanted to know from your ownership experiance what are the most prominent issues with the ninja 300? I heard some of them are starter relay issues, bike throttle body issue, fuel pump issue, handle bearing, shock absorber in the front gets damaged.

I seen a few videos in youtube stating these are some of the issues and I also heard due to the underbelly getting scraped someone had their engine oil seal broken too?

So just wanted to know before I make a purchase from your expert experiance are all these above mentioned issues true?if it is does it break the bank to fix it? How common are these issues? And does having this low ground clearance damage the bike on the long run?

Don't get me wrong I am not criticising the bike I want to know the cons so that if I purchase it I need to be ready with the money in case the worst happens.

History:

My riding experience - 20 years since I got my license
Bikes owned - CBZ Xtreme, Apache 160, Yamaha FZ 16, RE 350 Classic, Yamaha R3(preowned)

My favourite line: Riding is a form of Meditating.

The very first bike I was seated by my uncle, in a RD 350. I knew this only during my college days. I have got my first bike during my MBA. Like many, my family was conservative about this. Somehow managed to convince my dad on this.

RE 350 Classic - I was in a dilemma between this and R15 V3 during 2018. Yamaha waiting period was 90 days, I had no other option due to my personal situation to opt for RE 350. Ready delivery. Partial reason was pillion seat comfort.

After few long rides, I very much realised that I am more of sport tourer type of guy as i I had CBZ Xtreme as my first bike. In that time it was one of the budget friendly 150 CC with a good power delivery in that segment. I wanted Karizma but my uncle convinced to go CBZ as my 1st bike. Bottomline - Not so happy with my choice.

As soon as I moved to Chennai from Bangalore, I was searching for a good R3. My friend has the 1st model non abs. I loved the engine and the look of the R3 which is still my absolute favourite.



I purchased a R3 - ABS - 2019 model with 10k on ODO. I changed my stock tyres as soon as I got the bike. I loved every single bit of it. I went multiple long rides. I had this bike for almost 2 years. I had to relocate to Thailand for work. It was a long term plan to reside there. So myself and my wife convinced ourselves to sell the bike. But there was a twist. My office changed the plan and reduced the time for 6 months. I missed my R3 when I got back.

When I was looking for R3 again, the price of R3 is surprisingly high for the used ones. I wasnt happy about it. Many of my friends suggested me to look for Ninja 300.

And

Finally I got my Ninja with 5.5kms on ODO 2021 model.



I loved it as soon I sat on the seat. The test ride was good. The Ex-owner told me to change the tyres as the stock tyres are not so good and also he kept the bike idle for months. As soon as the purchase procedure is over and got my hands on Ninja, I took her for a long ride almost 100 kms. I wanted to understand every bit of her. It was an absolute premium feel. The tyres really kept me alert as I faced some wobbling in slow speed and off balance in the patchy roads. I changed both the stock tyres to Michelin street radial.

Initial impression:
- A really feel good premium looks and parts and experience
- that wow moment between every gear shift.
- The power delivery
- The color is an absolute head turner
- I felt more comfort riding with pillion on Ninja 300 than R3. But I was so careful while riding on speed breakers/bumps with the pillion.

Since the bike was idle for months, I am planning to service(3rd) as it is nearing its service due. Once after the official name change and other formalities, I will go for long rides and update here on the same on my experience with Ninja 300.

Non ABS (2014) has same calliper front and rear so this one fits both end.

^^ Thanks for quick response bro, cheaper in the sense not imported ones and which may have quality as good as those imported ones if not better. Since we have now many performance bikes manufactured in India, I thought some alternate might be available. Of course I will go for EBC one if nothing else is available. Thanks again.

Why would you go for cheaper alternative, never ever go for cheaper options on the one thing that saves your life on a motorcycle. if you want to improve braking performance, go for reputed products but, again those are expensive.

Boots were not cut for sure. Happened in front of me. Maybe sealing it was not done properly. Need to check it with my mechanic before doing anything else.[emoji28]

If those boots were not installed properly or the boots were cut to accommodate the LED bulb, it's no use, dust will eventually get settled. Or best, revert to stock, install the stock halogens, stock rubber boot, this way the bike, as per you, intended to be sold, will get the "stock" brownie points plus peace of mind.

Yeah. I did, but I guess that installation wasn't done in a clean environment. Or the rubber boots were not installed properly.

I think I need to revisit the installation and check it again.

Were you able to install the rubber boot protector that comes with the bike behind the HL housing after you've installed the Cyclops. If not, then definitely, you will find dust, even flies getting inside the HL unit and settle in the front of the reflector. The only way to clean the unit is to remove the bulb and blow mild compressed air so that all the dust comes out. I hope I am making sense.

Guys. Got a question.

Has anyone seen the inside of the headlight glass getting dirty? I replaced my headlights with LED from Cyclops and off late, I am seeing not only dirt on the inside, but also a reduction in throw.

And since I am planning to sell the bike soon, I don't want the new owner to gripe and complain, hitting the resale value.

Any suggestions??

Check for the handlebar wobbling problem that exists in some of the Ninja 300
Looks like it is the tyre at fault but hope bs6 version comes with better tyres.

Yes, old N300 from 2013 till the last version..i.e. KRT editions were CKD's and now the ABS ones can be definitely called half CKD ones
