DIscover 100 ES :low pickup and fuel efficiency

Its a 1 year 2 months old bajaj discover 100cc ES (13.5k in on dometer) is my companion. i bought it from a co worker for 30K one month back.
Everything works perfectly ok eventhough i changed the rear tyre from the stock one to TVS jumbo.
The things which i feel strange are ,
      1. Engine seems like very weak when i have a pilloin : For solo ride its okay
      2. Mileage am gettting is 55kmpl (most of the time there is a pillon with me 55kg). is it okay to have a FE value like that? because i dont feel any improvemnt in FE over my 15 year old (sold it for 11k when i got the discover). i used to get 50kmpl for old splendour.
3.There is a click--cklick--click sound when the engine idles and when the engine get stressed (like when the speed goes very low for a particular gear) along with the normal engine beat.
      4. eventhough the pickup i felt is low, i can see the speeding is better compared to spleandour or passion plus.
      5. Exhaust seems to be clean (havent opened the spark plug to for check AFR)

Please suggest..want to improve FE and pickup

That tick tick sound at low speeds is engine knocking. Avoid it. It is harmful for the engine.
Once you start shifting at little higher revs, your mileage may actually improve!

thank you sharan...but this tick tick sound is there even when the engine idles in neutral gear..i can hear it whenever I open the throttle from its idle condition (irrespective of whether in neutral or any other gear).. i dont think its knocking..could my idle rpm is very low?

            Get the tappets checked then!

Yes, even i felt so. As of my knowledge, its the head part which is making such noise. Check tappets, valves and valve seatings. You may even have to get head/valves de carbonized. Also valve seating may need decarb/polishing for proper valve operation. Timing chain may need replacement. By doing these things, you may expect overall improvement in pickup and mileage. Good luck !

I went to an authorized service center ( ABS auto-kottivakkom- ECR) . Got the bike inspected by them. but they didn't open the cylinder head. They just lightened some bolts which holds the engine and said "your bike is okay".

If its the tappets then just remove the head cover and adjust them. 10~15 min job. Get the right tappet clearance spec from the instruction manual or SVC.

                    Hello Experts/Moderators,

I am facing some problems with my bike. milleage sudden drop from 65+ to 55kmpl, Performance is very low now, very hard to pickup with pillion.
Now from recent figures milleage as low as 42-45kmpl - in city(bangalore)
Not sure whats the issue happening from past 1000km

I request some valuable suggestions from x-bhp members.
