Thanks xbhpians for helping me deciding this bike.

I had to wait for couple of days to get the colour I wanted. Bought this bike around Diwali time. In the first 3 weeks, it has done about 60kms and the mileage was about 37kmpl. In highway, it returned about 75kmpl.

Initial impression about the bike (and about me riding the bike )

    - Cold start issue is more severe than I expected/ more severe than my XL super.
    - It's obvious as this bike is pretty much excels in almost all the things comparing with XL super. I like it's shock abs, lot of torque , I could see a lot in the rear view mirror...
    - Bike reaches 50kmph easily. It's much faster than what I used to (about 30kmph in XL)
    - Back wheel wobbles a little when go past 40kmph.
    - I thought it would be too heavy and I would find it hard to get it from the cramped parking lot. But it's less heavier than I expected.

    - It would look better if the handlebar and the exhaust too painted in black (matte).
    - I don't know how to ride the bike smoothly. There are lot of jerk when shifting gears/braking/taking off.
    - I am pretty much clue less @ what gear I am in when riding, esp. after I come to a complete halt. (Would love if the console shows what gear I am in)
    - Shifting gears every now and then in the city traffic is little hectic for me.
    - During my highway ride, my right palm gone numb after about 15/20kms. As I had to keep my palm there with almost no movement. It would be better if the accelerator stays there even if I get my hands off of the handlebar.

    After first service (500kms)

    - Mileage is about 56kmpl. (98% solo; 70% highway)
    - Back wheel still wobbling. Service center acknowledged that the wheel is wobbling and escalating this issue to TVS. I don't know how long it's is gonna take to fix.
    - Now rear wheel brake is too loose. I have to press hard to brake. (I am still using rear brake first as I am little skeptic that I will fall if I use front brake first. I am comfortable applying both the brakes in XL as the speed I ride is not much, but with this bike I don't know. I guess it will take little time to gain some confidence).
    - They claim that they water washed, but pretty much every thing is dirty or at least they didn't washed it good.
    - When I give the bike, the supervisor agreed that there is a noise in engine. I could still hear the noise when taking delivery, but the mechanic claims that the sound is normal and refused to accept that there is any unusual noise.
    - Still fuel gauage showing wrong.
    - I guess cold start issue has dropped a little.
    - I think shifting gear is little better than before.

Overall, I am not happy with the first service.

Congrats man. Dont worry, you will eventually learn riding. Gear indicator isnt a necessary feature. Do inform about your experiences, when you cross 1000kms mark.

          Hi,

Today, I was on the way to a Hero showroom to view the latest version of Passion Pro and came across a TVS showroom on the way. Then I decided to check what is inside and eventually saw the new Star City Plus. The bike looks so attractive and its body build, and switches are good and much better than Hero and Bajaj. Moreover the seat height is higher than Hero and Bajaj bikes that I am strongly considering to buy this bike as the new model Hero Passion Pro does not look nice and look bit week than older models.

More feedback from other Star City Plus owners will be very helpful.

          Thanks
          Singu

            After 10 months, 3000kms and 4 Services:

            - Still back wheel wobbles. I just keep complaining, but it's not resolved yet. After this long, I am not even sure if I can notice if it's wobbling. I wonder when those TVS chakra engineers will show up.
            - Not happy with the service/service center.
            - Noticed a huge drop in mileage after a service, I highly think that they stole petrol. I have heard about this before, but first time experiencing/noticing it. When complaining, they even agree that it could happen.
            - I doubt whether they are servicing or just do water washing. With XL super, every single time I could feel the difference before/after servicing. But with City+, I don't feel a thing.
            - Side grab bar is too low, pillion couldn't reach easily.
            - Starting trouble after not using it for 2 days. They say it's normal, and I had to leave it idle for a minute before riding. It wasn't this severe with XL super even after not using it for 2-3 weeks.
            - Long rides are painful.

            Mileage:

City ~ 45 kmpl avg (worst 40 kmpl)
Highway ~ 70 kmpl avg (best 81 kmpl)

            Mostly, Solo riding (50/50 - City/Highway; 55-60 kmph max).

Big drop in city mileage may be because of my riding style. Keeping clutch pulled longer, whenever I break/downshift... Still many a times, I don't know what gear I am in. But I am better, I ride little smoother now.

                After 1yr and 4000 kms

TVS service center guys rode and concluded that they don't find any wobbling and I don't know what to ask them to fix if I they don't see anything wrong. I am asking them to fix this issue every since I bought this bike, and finally they claim everything is alright. I wonder why they didn't find it alright for one whole year. I am kinda tired and not gonna fight this anymore.

I see some rusting in engine. I think I should do something before it spreads all over the place. Any tips guys?

I don't feel the pull (pick up?) as it was one year ago. Is it because it's getting old or I am used to this and expecting more?

For me, City plus is a big upgrade from XL. After riding City plus for one year, I really miss the wide coverage of City plus side view mirror offers when riding XL. The latest XL super's RVMs are even smaller. Would they bring better one with XL 100?

                What I miss?
                - Kill switch. Even a decade old M80 (cost about 25k then) had kill switch. I don't know why it has to be a premium feature even after spending 50k+
                - Pass light should also work when headlight is ON. If we have to rely on high/low beam, why bother including pass light in the first place.
                - I thought it's normal to show wrong info as the floater can be @ higher or lower than normal when gauge receives the signal as the bike is not always in upright stance. But still there should be a fix for this, probably TVS thinks this too a premium feature.
                - Make a right size side hook. The one they offer now, is too low.

Would be good if it has,
Side stand warning. One year ago, I thought why can't people remember to kick off the side stand before moving. Now I do forget sometimes, and fellow roadsters have warned me about this.

                Mileage
                Town alleys - 40-45 kmpl
                City roads - 55-60 kmpl
                Highways - ~75 kmpl

I kept complaining about that issue every time I leave my bike for service and it never seemed to be gone. When I complained last time, they rode it and said that bike perfectly alright and there is no wobbling - meaning they don't recognize it. What should I do if they can't recognize it? Sure they can't fix it if they can't recognize it. So, I gave up. Still when the road is little imperfect, I feel it.
                    Lately I think like this,
What if it's actually not wobbling and it's totally my illusion?
And one local mechanic said it's because of tyre pattern.

When I rotate rear wheel and I see it moves little left and right and TVS people said it's normal. I don't know...

I tried to film the handlebar wobbling when I leave my hands off of it, but my camera is not wide enough to cover the whole handlebar. I asked the pillion to shoot, but they lean on one side and bike turns the side they lean. If I ever get it in a video, I will post to clarify if it's actually a wobbling or not.

Center Stand your vehicle. Shake the rear wheel horizontally.
If you feel little bit movement or shake then either Dampers worn out or Bearings are weak.

Do check this in your bike and also in other bikes (friends or neighbors) and compare.

If you can see the difference between your bike and others then do the same test in TVS Service Centers may be if you show them practically they will understand it seems.

If your rear wheel moves left & right – That is also a good check you have done. There may be a possibility of Wheel bend. You need to true.
Do one more check at home:
                      1. Center Stand your Vehicle
                      2. Take a Spoon /Screwdriver and Exactly place near Rim by leaving very less space and rotate your wheel. If the rim touches to the spoon at one spot and not touching in other spots. Your wheel is bent. You need to get it trued. On Contrary if you find the equal space throughout the rim then your wheel is all right. Do this check on both the sides.

I don’t think it is your illusion because you already experienced your XL which is running smoothly without wobbling.

If there is handlebar shaking/wobbling, there might be some fork problems also... But I don't have much idea how to recognize that. Its just a thought

One service center is sure that the wobbling is tyre issue. But I can't get it replaced because it's well past the warranty period (for tyre).
