I plan to make a mod on my headlight, so that when I switch on the main beam, both the low and high beam stay on (like in old RS 200 and old RC 200/390).

Do I need to get a higher capacity battery?

    Hello guys,

I am planning to buy a used AS200. What are critical aspects i need to check before sealing the deal.
I am aware of usual maintenance/replacing the parts associated in buying a used vehicle. Just wanted to know if there are any AS200 specific issues ?
Quickly surfed the forum & read a lot of vibration related issues; what were the counter actions to reduce it ?
At last, what would be the market price in bengaluru for a nicely maintained low mileage motorcycle ?

    Regards,
    Pavan

I didn't really want to spend too much on tyres for now. Had been exploring options for quite a few days. The Ralco Speed Blaster is cheap and provide good value. The tread is sufficiently deep to get past bad roads and slush. Those were my only requirements. Plus the dual purpose tyre tread adds nice character to the bike!
It has its own shortcomings too anyway. But for 2900 I can't complain much either.

People have previously posted similar issue but it mostly went unresolved and untraced. Possible reasons could be partially worn clutch or diaphram stuck issue in the carburettor. I had all the above symptoms plus a lot of hiccups and jerks while accelerating and cruising. After checking the spark plugs and cdi and the carburettor it finally narrowed to severely adulterated fuel. I drained the entire tank and filled up from a different bunk and the problem vanished. I kept a 1 liter bottle of that fuel with open cap for months and half of it won't evaporate, that's how bad the fuel was.

But as soon as engine rpm hits about 7k the bike seems bogged down. As if the bike feels it is struggling for air and refuses to climb to higher speeds or even past 7k rpm (at times even with throttle completely wringed opened). But at times the bike suddenly gets it power back and with same throttle it easily crosses the 115.
However when the bike is at idle the engine revs freely even lighting the rpm limit light.
I have also noticed whenever the problem occurs it's mostly when I'm cruising in 6th gear. Also have noticed the engine rpm to climb very slowly at times.

My question is why it is happening at high speeds the bike shows no issue upto 80 kmph. Has anyone faced the same issue?

    Kms done 38k
    last service at 36k
    oil used motul 7100

    Thanks

    Hello Manoj,
The light output is so good. I have been having trouble with the light throw on my AS. Low beam being barely visible. I tried swapping bulbs but of no use. Also tried LED replacement H7 but found them to be long ( excluding the light source which goes inside the cap ) a frame member was obstructing the installation. Would be helpful if you could share the LED source

Thats not common. Probably u used the engine oil or coolant too much above its life causing the damage .
For repairing u need to change the oil seals & flush the engine oil onces

Buy Exide 7AH VRLA battery(used in ups) for around Rs.600. You need some simple Mods like 2 battery clips and half a meter of 4.0sq mm to connect this battery.
Generally I would not recommend this type of alterations but Since you are strict on budget ....
I had used this setup for my Unicorn(almost 8 years ago) and ran 100/90 headlight after Full DC conversion for almost 3 years... the battery held up very well.

Why would someone go with Chinese or unbranded just for a price difference of say 500 or 600 even.
Our bikes ain't HH splendor or TVS50. Going cheap on battery is literally you stranding yourself in midway of a trip.
I would go with a reputed brand as always with good service network and warranty policy such that in midway if my battery fails. I'll get it replaced..
Again going with a lower AH rated battery will be a suicide as our cranking amps will be approx 43~46A.
    Puny battery will fail miserably.

Local upholstery shops can easily fix that, sometimes even with a better quality material. Fixed my 220s front seat for 250 odd bucks
