I'm very much satisfied with the brakes.
Will post a video on brakes ASAP.
I know the disc of fzs has larger radius with larger tyres, so it will perform better. But i think rear brake works better than front.
Which tyre yamaha gave to you, mine is tvs. May be the mrf one was better.
And i also feel some thing is rubbing periodically anywhere, when i reach 50 to 60. Like we use to feel when bicycles rim bents and it start rubbing on cycles swing arm (not swing arm but whatever it is called).

Query regarding Yamaha Cygnus Alpha scooter

      Hi Guys,

Apologies for not posting this in the ownership thread. It is not too active.

I bought a Yamaha Cygnus Alpha for my sister in December 2014, replacing a 7 year old Hero Honda Pleasure. The new Yamaha is serving us well, no problems at all. Its the Yamaha Authorized service centers that are useless. They do nothing during services, except change engine oil, wash the scoot and give it back. Any issues or problems stated on the job card falls ot the deaf ears.

So my dad and I want to service the alpha at home, like we service his chetak and used to service the old Pleasure. But chetak and pleasure were simple machines and easy to maintain and service at home. The Alpha's user manual contains something call Final transmission oil.

This is some new oil used in the alpha, there is a separate dedicated filling hole in the scoot (just like the engine oil). The type, grade and standard for this transmission oil is exactly same as the engine oil. Does anyone has any idea what this final transmission oil is? What are the drain intervals for the transmission oil? Is it same as he engine oil?
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

The transmission oil in my Jupiter also same grade as engine oil. Its around 150 ml. Changed during every alternative oil change.

If you have maintained and serviced the pleasure in the past, am surprised that you aren't aware of this "final transmission oil". Simply put in local terms, its the "gear oil". Every 'gearless' (i.e. cvt) scoot right from the Kinetic honda to the Activa's , Pleasure's, Suzuki's to the current Yamaha scooters all have this "final drive oil" or simply put 'gear oil'. Some manufacturers specify a type of gear oil (commonly the ep90 grade which has similar viscosity as a w40 engine oil but with a different set of additives.. ep stands for extreme pressure. such oils are used in gearbox's including in heavy vehicles/trucks/jeeps), there are other manufacturers who specify the same engine oil to be used as the gear oil. These scooters hardly take in 100-130ml (again refer the manual) and its almost impossible to overfill it because the filling mechanism (in most cases) is designed to prevent overfilling.
Drain intervals will be mentioned in the manual, but using a good quality gear oil (i.e. ep90 grades) the drain interval can be as long as an year or more (Honda IIRC mentions a year or two). Even if the recommendation is the usual engine oil, it should be good for close to an year. This is because this oil is contained in an enclosure that is not exposed to the combustion by-products or very high temps (like the engine oil).

Since these scoots hold very little of the gear oil, and it's a 2 min job to drain and refill, I suggest you replace it every service (or every other service). I own a 2007 honda dio that has now covered over 60k km with just regular maintenance and no engine parts replaced (not even cam chain/tensioners) and I have always made it a point to replace both the engine oil and gear oil at every service (approx 2500km intervals). The first time the gear oil was replaced was after the first year and it still looked fine.

Here is video of the gear oil being drained and filled in an Activa:

This video will show you how to drain the Gear box oil of you Honda Activa. Its the simplest job and anyone can do it in their garage/ parking lot. The gear ...

                Confusion about service schedule.
The ownership manual says change transmission oil after 1000 kms while online service schedule say 2nd service and svc also says after second service.
What the fu** is going with yamaha.
And i broke the rear view mirror holder a month ago, but their is still no replacement part available. Now yamaha is completely a Indian company low quality and poor servce support.
I contacted yamaha for service schedule they told me to mail them the image of ownership manual, after i mailed them the images, there was still no reply from them.

Here they change at 1st service. Not a big deal, I change it every service (Ray-Z, not ZR), since usage is very low, may be 2k km every 6 months.

Left side mirror is the most sold part, most fallen side. Right side was freely available, got left after searching 2-3 Yamaha shops.

Agree with quality part. Speedo cable quality was pretty bad and it was rusted inside the speedometer, no exposure to water or humidity. Speedo inner was not available as separate and changed as full set.

Mine was right side and not available ,and yamaha don't have any knowledge about the part, they called me 2 times today. They told me we will contact svc, i told what the fu** i can contact myself to the svc. What new are you doing. They have no knowledge when to change transmission oil and svc are proud enough to listen what customer says, that's what happens when you hire illiterate peoples as engineer or manager.
Know my 2nd problem i opted for finance for 6 months, they took second installment and now they texting me that you have not submitted your second installment. I contacted baf india but they are pathetic like yamaha just started using rough language. To sum up my last purchase from yamaha they are fraud.

                      Hi
Had bought RAY ZR in July, 2016. Since, first day I have noticed there is a "tock" kind of noise comes out of front forks while bumping off any uneven surface. It's more irritating when there are potholes. When I contacted service peoples they said RAY ZR comes with telescopic suspension with spring and since it's a small scooter in size front fork, spring inside suspension rebound when it hit to any kind of uneven surface... It's sounds okay but still not convinced. If anyone out there to throw some light on the same would appreciate their views...

Same here friend. i don't know whether it is handle or front fork. I took it to yamaha svc but they did nothing. If you solve this problem in future please post the solution.

                        ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

                        Bought the accessories of ray-zr
Front grill has ugly looking clamps or holder, rear side grill was ok and minimal.

The thing i loved most is the mat, which indicates that yamaha still has people with mind. It is not just put there and go. They have provided lock nuts so that someone would not steal it. And they are also available according to the color scheme of your scooty.Click image for larger version

Ray zr has two air filters one for carburettor and other for centrifugal clutch, of which clutch side tends to get dirty often. Please keep an eye on it friends

                              My Opinions about this scoot:

I have been commuting in this bike for about 12 days from my opinion

It has an efficient amount of power
The mileage is better than the old Ray Z
Gentle start and a seamless movement
The scoot has about 21 litres of storage
Which is not fitting full faced helms
The total console is too fancier
The bike does not has a light on/off switch
                              It has good legroom
It has the best sharp edge looking style

                              MY CHOICE OF COLOUR:
My choice of colour was the fizz white
Cause the military green was not fitting for this scoot

I am not good at writing threads tried my best please correct me if I was wrong at any point

                              Thanking you

Yesterday completed the first servicing, no complaint whatsoever although told SVC to tighten rear guard.

First service was scheduled at 1000 kms or 60 days whichever is earlier. Total cost was ₹255/-.

Scooter is performing well, brakes are really good thanks to front nissin callipers. Top speed I reached was 90 kmph.
