The bike delivers above 50 KMPL when ridden around 45-60 KMPH and I maintain 27 & 37 psi for the front and rear tire respectively.

Potholes are never felt when ridden alone and is a boon to drive in our not-so even roads.

As I have updated earlier, the lighting and breaking are awesome and I am in love with Gusto after each ride. The ride quality is plush.

I have noticed the below dis advantages over this ownership period:

    1) The angle of this bike is upright after engaging side stand. Prone to falls and I already spent twice on rear view mirrors.

    2) Horn definitely needs an upgrade.

3 Mahindra showrooms which i know have been closed in Chennai (Not sure about the others) and i had to travel 15+ Km to reach the nearby Mahindra authorized service center. I will raise a query in Mahindra website to update the available sales/service centers.
Gives me a bit of worry when I think about the availability of spares in the future.

I get many queries from fellow riders about the bike and I can only give them a reply that there are only a few service centers available and not to get Gusto (or any Mahindra product for that matter).

Even if the product is wonderful, what else can I suggest to fellow riders if Mahindra is shutting shops ?? Feels bad to let down a wonderful product.

in the market for a 125 cc scooter and I am planning to visit DP motors in Anna Salai to test ride one. All the above quotes make me feel concerned. Also the scooter is all fibre and still is 120 kg heavy. I needn't say much about the resale value as I'm sure it will be damn less but it's ok as the product itself costs less, if I have to convince myself. What can you say about the resale value?

I am inclined to it because I like the different understated design and the talked about engine refinement. I want to buy an Indian made product but the tvs is very common, so looming at mahindra. There's nothing premium about this product and I have activa 125, access and vespa in mind too lol.

Do you think in the future the number of service centres and showrooms will increase? Can I go ahead and make this purchase if I like the scooter? In case a need arises, can I get spares?

I pray you did not buy Gusto. Just because Mahindra is going to exit the commuter vehicle business.

Completed the 4th Free Service at 7600 Kms. Oil change & regular check up.

After crossing 9000 Kms I am having few issues with the bike.

The bike wont start using self and the relay made a tick-tick noise. Assuming the relay must be faulty' I purchased a new relay. But same issue continued.

Charged the battery but the same issues continued for some days. Was planning to report the issue during 5th free service.

After washing the vehicle completely inside-out the issue disappeared. Now the problem is intermittent.

My brother in law who used the bike for a day reported me that he had to fuel very often. I later found out he has run the bike with Choke lever pulled all the way out.
Mileage has reduced from 50+ to 40+ after this incident. Removed the carb and gave a good wash with petrol. Cleaned all jets and screws. No dirt or deposits inside the carb.

Acceleration is crisp and pickup is better than before. I have rode 75Kms after the carb clean and i was happy with the performance. The fuel needle also has not dropped like it was happening before.

Yesterday the bike stopped as if there was no petrol. Removed the fuel cap to check level of fuel. I had almost half tank left. Again bike started as if nothing happened. Few hundred meters and it again stopped. Then started again. Happened for the third time again. Somehow I reached home as I was very near to my home.
If this was because I messed with up with Carb setting' It should not have run 70+ kms without issues.

What if the same happens when I am crossing the road with my kid along with me.

I am scared & confused with how my Gusto behaves.

I don't want to regret purchasing a Mahindra over TVS. Waiting for the 5th Service to happen to report these issues.

And one more question if someone has worked with keihin Carbs.

The Choke cable is connected to the butterfly valve of the carb. But I remember that the Accelerator cable is what manages the butterfly valve in other Mikuni carbs.

      Please enlighten.

this is a sliding carburettor so the butterfly valve is operated by the chock cable and the throttle cable is responsible for the movement of the slider on the top side.

          Thank you.

So there is no change in how the AFR screw works right ? Clockwise to reduce the fuel flow and anti-clock wise to increase it ?

Found the root cause the next day itself. I have routed the fuel tube to carb wrongly. When the fuel level becomes low it has to flow against gravity causing the vehicle to stop.

After correction vehicle run without issues.

            Re: Mahindra Gusto

Completed 5th service (by myself) @ 10085 Kms. Could not take to Mahindra service because of the heavy rains here in Chennai.

Used Elf 10W40 semi-synthetic. Engine is smooth when compared to what Mahindra Service center uses.

Cleaned Spark Plug & air filter. There is a lack in mileage in the past few hundred KMs. Gusto is returning only 40-44. Tuning carb also could not help.

Could not source air-filter from shops. Will change air-filter and check for mileage. Hands crossed.

Another problem is the self-start. Works according to its own will

Another design flaw I found was water seeping inside the tail light assembly after every water wash. I am seeing water droplets after every wash. This time I decided to remove the assembly. I had to remove the entire panels to access the tail light assembly. It was easy though.

The next day after cleaning the assembly, i could see water droplets again inside the assembly.

              Re: Mahindra Gusto

              Update at 15000 Kms

Bike was not used much in the last one year and was mostly lying idle in my room along with GS and Unicorn.

Gusto was switched on once in a week and made to idle for few minutes whereas the other bikes are were prepared for long storage.

Would be doing the general service by this week and would be switching to Shell 10W40 for its usage for next 20 days after which it will idle again for the next one year.
