Hey everyone I hope I get to meet some people who owns a supersport 939 and we can share our experience and stories, in this thread. I still haven't got the bike delivered but I did complete the payment process today and went for a test ride, so I thought it would be good to create a thread for the owners.
Let's talk about why I chose this bike. It's not my first bike, I own a Yamaha R15 v2, I loved how lightweight that bike was and how agile it was, I love full faired looks in a motorcycle but the riding posture of the bike was too aggressive. And I am a long tourer and riding it on long rides for a 6'1" person was a nightmare. Then I was looking at random bike videos on youtube when I came across the review of this ducati bike. I mean who doesn't love ducatis, right? but its usually the monsters or the panigale that are in the spotlight but goodness heaven this bike was a godsend for me. It tick all the boxes I want from a motorcycle.
What I want from a motorcycle:
- Power to cruise at 160-200kmph
- Low end torque for high acceleration at high gears
- Comfortable seat and riding posture for long rides
- Lightweight
- Rear set footpegs
- Wind protection
- Fairings
What the supersport has? Everything. It's like Ducati read my mind and made it just for me. I know the power isn't as much as the similar priced sport touring bike Ninja 1000, but 110 bhp is plenty for india, i dont think I will ever use the whole of it anyway. And goodness does it look beautiful. This bike was the only bike that made me fall in love at first sight. I rode it today, and goodness does it handle so damn well and no pain in the wrist at all. I can ride all day long. The heat is an issue but it doesnt heat up like other liter bikes so its not unbearable with a thick jeans of riding pants. Its not even an issue if you are on the highways.
Service intervals are very long, and the servicing is cheap (at least compared to cars, and I was a big car person). I am looking forward to riding it everyday. Its my commuter, my tourer, my love!
PS When I looked at the bike at showroom I checked the clip on handlebars to see whether I can hang vegetable and groceries bag from them, since this baby is gonna be the do everything motorcycle for me.
Enjoy some photos!
EDIT: After six months and taking it to the himalayas I decided to do an ownership review. I only talk about my experience with the bike as a daily driver so no spec sheet or anything. The language is explicit so watch at your own discretion.
